2/16/14- Hey all. I have some family stuff going on and I'm nervous about signing up for swaps and then having to be away from home at a moment's notice. I will be swapping very carefully and very little for a while.

I never really know what to put here so I have tried to add some good info in the "favorites" boxes.

I am not a professional artist. I just need to do artsy craftsy stuff to feel good. I work a lot and being creative is a way of keeping a balance and creating joy! I get in a slump if I don't DO something besides work and sleep.

Why am I here? Recently a friend of mine wanted bottle caps for a project. Instead of just sending a bunch of bottle caps I decorated the box and made a little card...this was super fun and I would like to do it more! I thought wow I love doing this and how fun would it be to get something like this in the mail! :) Then I saw someone "opening their happy mail" on youtube and I said "wait!" people do this? So I searched for it and here I am.

Hope for swaps: I have a bunch of stuff! How fun would it be to package it up and send it to someone who can use it! I want interesting stuff to use in my art. I want cool, fun, pretty, useful stuff to show up in my mailbox! I really enjoy making gifts and find joy in creating with a person in mind. This motivates me. I really love exchanging ideas and being connected with folks who are creative.

I dabble! I like making fun and utilitarian stuff out of recycling and found items. Mixed Media art Journals made from recycled materials are a new favorite. Collage! Collage! Collage!...usually on a box or tin with things not just paper. Recently started trying to learn how to REALLY paint! I like using wire and beads and little embellishments! I have altered some bottles and I'm thinking of working on making "useful" lights or something out of old wine bottles (I have so many). I can't sew! I use fabric and do bookbinding but sewing machines are my bane.

I love using music themes in art projects.

I listen to almost all music but Celtic, folk and indie/alternative stuff makes me happy. I like music that other folks may consider obscure. I really really don't like Jazz...weird I know, I've tried...can't do it. The only exception is live jazz singers. Currently listening to Jars of Clay, Passenger, Ray Lamontagne, Liz Phair, Mat Kearney, Blind Pilot, Basia Bulat, Mumford and Sons and lots of random stuff on Pandora.

Current movie favorites are The Heat and Identity Thief. So funny! We watch comedies, horror and sci-fi mostly. Long time favorites: Ferngully, Up, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Manon Des Sources, Jean De Florette, the Die Hard movies (weird I know), Elf, The Notebook and Sommersby.

I love Lewis Black and Kathleen Madigan! They make me pee my pants!

Books: I love anything by Christopher Moore and Charles De Lint!

I don't watch much TV. However I do get on Netflix and consume entire seasons occasionally. Recent Lazy Fun: Pushing Daisies, Once Upon a Time, Supernatural, Eureka, Dead like me, Six feet under, Lie to me, Doll House, Tru Calling and Warehouse 13. Also Mrs Browns Boys when we can find it. This winter the plan is to re-watch X-Files.

Anything weird or off-beat. I tend to like old, funky, sexy, beautiful, strange, steampunky, vintage and funny stuff. Anything really really tiny makes my heart sing for some reason. I collect tiny tiny blown glass animals.

I'm not that excited about seasonal or holiday themed things unless they are super interesting.

I like really deep, bright or earth-tone colors rather than pastels.

Funky comics/newspapers (I like to make envelopes with weird newspaper images. We have a couple of interesting alternative papers that always have funky graphics and shocking columns that I like to use. Would love to get this type of paper from other places.)

I love beer, wine, coffee and subsequently any funky, pretty or interesting labels.

You could go through your junk drawer or stash and send me a handful of small funky metal things, glass beads, keys, broken jewelry, metal buttons and interesting or old scraps and clippings and I would be happy! :) I like to use funky old crap in my art!

I love old wrapping paper and any kind of colored/patterned tissue paper. (the kind for wrapping one's gifts not for blowing one's nose.) :)

I would love to have samples of other peoples rubber-stamps on tissue or tracing paper.

I enjoy "scrap-booking paper" but I appreciate homemade backgrounds and using layers of recycled materials just as much...sometimes more!

I like pressed flowers and leaves.

I use book pages, maps, ephemera, quotes and poems in collage. I would love to have some book pages in languages other than English.

I like to make art journals and collage with postcards, envelopes, old cards, bookmarks, fancy/funky cocktail napkins, doilies, FUNKY/UNIQUE playing cards, bits of paper, bits of lace and scraps of fabric.

I love to see what other people are doing and share ideas and diy techniques.

Metal embellishments of any kind.

I love swirls, spirals, flourishes and Celtic designs.

Treats I crave but don't often purchase because they are expensive:

Caran d'Ache watercolor crayons.

Derwent inktense pencils/blocks.

Any paints, glazes, pigments or shimmery substance from Jaquard or Luminarte!

Pitt pens, Sakura gel pens, paint pens.

Stays-on ink pads.

Rubber stamps and stencils

Little gears and old watch/clock parts

I love strong coffee...can't do flavored! I like tea. I like white and milk chocolate.

Would love to try things from all over the world! I like it when these things come in funky foils, packets and wrappers. :)

I love essential oils and natural products. Vanilla, oatmeal, honey, amber and almond so far are safe and I love them. Unfortunately anything floral scented is a no go.

I can't do flavored coffees, perfume, incense, scented candles, floral scents of any kind (even all natural).

I am ALLERGIC to fabreeze, PERFUME and most scented things. Please Please Please do not send perfumed or scented items. I'm not a fan of stale cigarette smells but attempting to cover it up with perfume actually makes me sick. I would rather deal with airing a stale smelling packet out instead of having throw it all away because I cannot even get close enough to it to open it. :(

...oh and I really don't like grape or banana flavored items.
