About Me

Hello there! I'm Jamie and I'm in the beautiful, multi-cultural city-state, Singapore. I'm on SB because I've been bitten by the papercrafting bug and I want to share my craftwork + extra supplies with others. If I happen to meet a kindred spirit or a nice person along the way, that would be a bonus. =)

I'm no artist but I try to do something artsy regularly (usually with one/some/all of these: pens, glue + scissors, washi tapes, colour pencils, markers, highlighters, and papers like printed papers, patterned papers, recycled paper, and paper ephemera).

֍ The best way to contact me is via SB’s messaging system; I don’t check my email often!

֍ Singapore is a city-state. If your post office requires a city to be given, please state Singapore.

֍ I was eager to start swapping but found many swaps to have a rating requirement (having browsed the forums, I understood why it's needed). To swap coordinators who are making it easier for newbies to get started: thank you!

Swapping information

Don't forget to include your username and the swap name in your mail/package!

I like seeing an individual's style, so don't feel obliged to fulfill what's on my "Favourite themes and things" list! But please don't send me things on my "Prefer not to receive" list -- I wouldn't want the item to be unappreciated or to go to waste.

Prefer to receive:

  • Your hand-drawn illustration/drawing/doodle on a piece of paper (doesn't have to be a big piece!)
  • Your calligraphy or lettering
  • An item that you made yourself (crochets, stickers, bookmarks, pins, postcards, mini envelopes, ...)
  • Mail art
  • Abstract collages
  • Quotes (clippings or handwritten), especially philosophical and funny-punny ones =)
  • Sentiments for journals, scrapbooks, ATCs, ...
  • Decorated blackout poetry
  • Mini-zines
  • Mini-books
  • Yellowed/browned book pages and music sheets
  • Quirky, eccentric, or zany images from magazines or paper materials
  • Local paper ephemera such as magazine pages, catalogue pages, ticket stubs, flyers, posters, maps, cup coasters, ...

Prefer not to receive:

  • Anything with scent (very mild scent is okay, for example scented letter paper)
  • Fabric, unless it's part of your handmade item
  • Any form of foods and drinks (including tea bags)
  • Glitters, confetti, sparkles
  • Kiddie or reward stickers
  • Personal care products (skincare products, cosmetics, masks, toiletries, soap, ...)

Favourite themes and things:

  • Art: abstract | minimalistic | Mondrian | pixel art | to-be-discovereds
  • Books, libraries, bookstores
  • Text, word prints, typography
  • Cafes, coffee, tea
  • Flowers, foliage, leafs, trees, succulents
  • Graphs, Venn diagrams, infographics
  • Kawaii animals, kawaii daily life and things
  • Eki stamps
  • Cute doodles like this and this

Ratings and such:

  • I always rate promptly, which is within a day of getting your mail.
  • As the timing of mail deliveries is as predictable as the weather, please allow for 4-8 weeks for mails from Singapore to reach you. If you still haven't received my mail by then, do message me before rating. I'd be happy to resend.
  • Life happens, and you may not be able to send mail to me by the deadline... if you're going to be quite late, just message me and let me know that you'd be late. Don't be a serial late sender though! We have a good thing here on SB but it would break down if we ignore basic swapping etiquette.

Ideas on what to write me:

Getting handwritten notes or letters is delightful! If you're wondering what to write me, here are some suggestions:

  • Favourite book and/or author
  • Favourite quote/saying
  • Favourite food/snack/drink/beverage
  • Favourite tree and/or bird
  • Favourite Youtube channel and/or podcast
  • What is your favourite thing about where you're living now?
  • If you are into pens, what's your favourite pen and what do you mostly use it for?
  • What makes you laugh?
  • What quirks or funny behaviour does your pet have?
  • What is a daily habit that brings you joy?
  • Favourite thing to shop for when you are in a grocery store?
  • What are the 3-5 things that you'd bring with you, if you were stranded on an island for a month?
  • What song gets you dancing and/or singing?
  • What are you trying to achieve this year?
  • Movie watched recently; 👍 or 👎?
  • What was an inexpensive purchase that improved your quality of life?
  • Interesting thing/fun fact/trivia you heard or read recently

Or just tell me about how your day/week has been. =)

Crafting endeavours

Currently dabbling with: mail art, ATCs, pockets and folders for happy mails, paper collaging (mostly abstract, unplanned and freeform), art journalling, collage paper clusters, junk journals, blackout poetry, hand-made postcards, altered index cards.

Want to try making/using/doing: APCs, altered index cards, zines, altered books, sewing on pages, oil pastels, flip books, notecards, watercolour brush pens, sketching, mini booklets, fabric washi, grid journalling, stamped washi tape

Comment: Hi Jamie! I love the quote you included and feel the same way - although I do joke that when I go to Aldi's and give my cart to someone else without take their quarter, that I am working my way into heaven through that good deed! Do you have Aldi's there? It is a grocery store that charges a quarter to use the carts but you get your quarter back when you return it! Great idea to keep people from leaving carts everywhere! Thank you for the awesome share and pcs - I love them all! All the best! Hugs, Happy Reading, and Swapping! ;)
Response: That’’s very nice of you! We don’t have Aldi’s here but I’ve been to some Aldi’s in Australia — I like trying to find a good deal there. 😊

Comment: Thanks for the zine! I love the idea with the black background paper. I think you captured it pretty well, I like the page you made with some interesting facts from different countries. I also thought it would be easy to make something and then realised it's actually very complex

Thank you so much for the lovely surprise happy mail! Everything you sent made me so happy indeed! <3 (The little memo notes especially are incredibly cute.) I agree that Japanese stationery is really fun~ I wish I'd thought to bring some back with me when I moved. ^^' Oh, well~ I really, really appreciate all of the local artist things! It'll be such a struggle to actually use them and not just hoard them like a dragon, haha. (And I've never had these teas before! I'm excited to try them!) Thank you, thank you, again! <3
