Did your entire homeschool community join swap bot today, lol? I have never see so many users join the bot and then the same swap in one day

AmandaC 01/22/2015 #

Lol! It's mostly from a homeschooling Facebook group. :) I couldn't figure out how to make a swap work the old fashioned way with addresses and all that, & I was already a member here.

I forgot to mention my daughters last name is different than mine. She is Sophia Lucero.

dfirecracker 01/31/2015 #

Hi everyone, I just wanted to make sure before I send these out today: Should each child in a family be receiving one card from each of my children, or one card to each child from my children together...? Thanks. : )

rtait 01/31/2015 #

dfirecracker - We started out having each child make a card for each kid in our swap, but the 4 yr old got bored, so we continued with making just one card from both kids.

dfirecracker 01/31/2015 #

Thanks, rtait. I wasn't sure so, we overshot to be safe. I did have to 'help out' on signing some... ; )

dfirecracker 01/31/2015 #

We received our first envelope today...! Yay...! I'm debating over letting them open their 'Valentine's' as they are received, or putting them into little homemade mailboxes and waiting until the 14th to let the kids open them. What's everyone else doing...? : )

rtait 01/31/2015 #

I think I'm going to save them for the 14th! A little homemade mailbox sounds like a great idea!

My girls really enjoyed this swap and my 4 yr old decided to start scrapbooking today because of it (all over the floor of course).

My 12 yr old wants to know if we can do more homeschool swaps, and hopes that some older kids can join in.

AmandaC 01/31/2015 #

We sent 1 card for each child from each of our children, but just because my kids wanted to. It wasn't required or anything, 1 per child receiving is totally fine.

AmandaC 01/31/2015 #

We got our first envelope today too! So happy the kids are enjoying the swap. :) I think more homeschool swaps are a great idea. Maybe starting a Facebook page for homeschool swaps would be good so we can keep things somewhat organized? Totally open to ideas, my 3rd little one is due in 10 weeks so my brain is sort of scattery right now, lol. Sounds like a lot of fun though, there are so many fun things we could do!

stephenie 02/ 1/2015 #

We are starting to receive the valentines. They are so cute and Sophia is thrilled to get mail!

simsbuki 02/ 1/2015 #

Going out in the mail tomorrow. Slight delay due to Mommy's crazy schedule!

JazmineCasado 02/ 2/2015 #

Received our 1st card TODAY and mailed out ours lastnight/today. Sorry for the delay We hope everything enjoys :)

rtait 02/ 3/2015 #

oregonwildflower - we received an envelope from you today, but you were not on our list! I just wanted to let you know in case you wondered why you didn't get one from us!

G33KYG1RL 02/ 4/2015 #

Sorry I just now clicked that I sent off my Valentines...we did several days ago, but I've been very ill and haven't been able to let anyone know until now.

dfirecracker 02/ 4/2015 #

rtait: We had the same thing happen. I received a package from someone and went to leave feedback that it was received but... the person (Arianna S.) was not on my swap list. And that's a bummer because she deserved to get rated for being such a great swap partner...

Being new to 'SwapBot', I'm not sure how this works and definitely don't want to receive a bad rating for someone not receiving a swap when I don't have them on my list. Does anyone know if some swaps are completely random, not having the exact same partners...? Can I rate someone, some how, if they are not in my list...?

jenb2351 02/ 4/2015 #

Ok, so there must be a mix up somewhere. When i go to "See the partners to send to," I do not have Arminta listed. However, when I click "rate your partners," I have Arminta listed but not dfirecracker. Someone please tell me Arminta's little boy is getting something!!

jenb2351 02/ 4/2015 #

Now really looking at it, there are quite a few that don't match up between the two links...

dfirecracker 02/ 5/2015 #

Was anyone familiar with 'SwapBot' prior to this swap...? I'd love to have an admin or someone check into this. I will look for an e-mail to write to if nobody knows - just to make sure everyone is covered. I'm in another swap and those partners seem to be matching up so, I'm a little concerned. I'd hate to see someone left out, plus, I'd love to be sure that our cards have been received... : )

dfirecracker 02/ 5/2015 #

** Just wanted to update that I posted the questions in the 'Help' forum. I will update as soon as I hear a reply. : )

TC 02/ 5/2015 #

The SB system assigns partners randomly, and it works like this: A sends to B; B sends to C; C sends to D, and so on. So you will not necessarily be sending to and receiving from the same person, depending on the number of partners the host has set. If @AmandaC had set the number of partners at 15, then you'd all be sending to and receiving from each other.

dfirecracker 02/ 5/2015 #

Thanks for clarifying, @TC ...! : )

dfirecracker 02/ 5/2015 #

Here's the deal: I didn't add my swap name to any of our cards (this was my first swap so, a newbie mistake). I can't remember if I addressed the envelopes as myself or as 'The Garcia Family'. So, to make the connection: My first name is Danelle... ; )

Someone suggested in the 'Help' forum that the envelopes could be addressed with the names of the children. So, that could be our problem here... ; )

jenb2351 02/ 5/2015 #

Well, everyone here just know that my girls have been super excited to get the mail everyday in hopes of more Valentine cards. I let them open the first one that came but am making them wait until Valentine's for the rest. They thank you all and really LOVE them!!

AmandaC 02/ 5/2015 #

Sorry, I'm just now seeing these posts! TC is exactly right, who you send to may not be who you receive from and vice versa. Please let me know if any other questions come up. And thanks so much everyone, my kids have been loving checking the mail each day!

stephenie 02/ 5/2015 #

I am a newbie too and didn't add my swap name to any of the cards. They came from Sophia Lucero in Arvada, CO.

rtait 02/ 8/2015 #

To figure out who sent to us, I look the child's name here in the comments, then see the swap name and rate that person. I didn't add my swap name to any of mine either. At least we will know how to do this for next time!

oregonwildflower 02/ 9/2015 #

We are enjoying receiving our Valentine's and have been opening them as they come. This was a lot of fun!

oregonwildflower 02/ 9/2015 #

I had my daughter make Valentine's for all the girls on our swap and my son make all the Valentine's for the boys (and then I helped my 2-year-old make Valentine's for the two little girls we had). I mailed them from the child/ren who made them, so most didn't have all three of their names on the return address, just one or two. Sorry if that caused any confusion!!!

rtait 02/10/2015 #

We made mailboxes and we've been putting the valentines in as they come. The kids are loving this, can we please do another swap!!!

arminta 02/10/2015 #

I just read these comments. Arminta's little boy is definitely getting valentine's :) He was the only person who got mail today! LOL
