i am a teacher living near vancouver, canada. i teach special education and i am very passionate about what i do.
i lived abroad for a few years and love the travel bits, but there is certainly no place like home.
i love art, music, books, quiet time with tea, and my dogs. i am interested in things that matter and people who are genuine.
my dogs are rescues that i adopted when i was living in the united arab emirates. they are wonderful little friends who had a tough start to life, but are now enjoying the benefits of being well loved and are learning to endure the canadian winters.
"to be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting..." - e.e. cummings
hippy at heart - love recycled things, things that look old, king julian, elephants and anything with an elephant on it, tea, travel, nature - esp trees and the ocean.
my favorite colours are brown and green. i love natural, warm colours - especially in the fall! living in the middle east made me realize how much we take our seasons for granted in canada!
i love to swap postcards! i am not picky but some of my favourites are:
*churches *elephants *trees *dogs *vintage *ones that show where you live *nature
i love to read. i read as much as i can each day - at the gym, on the bus to work, in the bath, before bed...whenever i can fit it in! i love to read historical fiction, anything about history, and get caught up very easily in series and find myself replacing sleep with reading. i am open to reading anything, which you will see if you do reading swaps with me - i always have an eclectic mix!
i absolutely love music. tracey chapman, sarah mclachlan, counting crows, collective soul, dixie chicks, mumford and sons, tragically hip, emmanuel jal,rob zombie, slipknot.... i like a little bit of everything. love country, folk, and rock. i enjoy music that has something to say. with that said, i do enjoy a fun beat and a dance party with my dogs after work.
"twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didnโt do than by the ones you did do. so throw off the bowlines. sail away from the safe harbor. catch the trade winds in your sails. explore. dream. discover." -mark twain
i do not go for any of the kawaii or hello kitty thing.
i'm not into bright colours
anything flowery - tea, smells, etc.

Hi Ashley!!
It's very nice to meet you. I am a substitute teacher waiting on my very own classroom. :-) I love your quote and that you have rescue dogs!! What countries have you lived in?
My musical taste is literally all over the place. I love all kinds of songs; new and old. One song that I've been listening to lately is from the musical Wicked, "Defying Gravity". I love love love this song!! To me, it's about believeing in yourself and taking chances which is something that I need to do more often. I hope you like it!
