I have been married for 25 years and I have no children and no pets. I had a dog (Labrador/chihuahua mix) for 16 years before he passed away, so I love animals. I am a teacher, college professor, and I write books on education. I love to travel and attend teaching conferences in the US. I consult with school districts that are trying to improve their literacy achievement.
I love just about any kind of music...except heavy metal rock and rap. I enjoy music and I usually have Pandora live-streaming while I'm working in my office at home. I stopped buying CDs when music became so accessible through Pandora and You Tube.
I really love reading. Since my Ph. D. is in reading education...that is sort of a requirement!!! I typically have several books that I am reading at one time and I choose which book to read based on my mood. I read everything from Smithsonian Magazine to professional books (teaching), to Jeffrey Archer, to light funny books that don't require much thought at all. Books are a window into your own life and a mirror into other lives (Lee Galda).
I like to watch movies, but it is hard to find two hours to devote to sitting still! When I do watch movies, I like light-hearted, funny movies. I don't like being all stressed out watching a movie, so I shy away from highly-intense movies. If it makes me laugh, I'll watch.
I'd like to say I don't watch much TV...but now that I think about it, I do watch some. I like fun reality shows like Amazing Race, Survivor, and the Biggest Loser. I also love HGTV and watch all kinds of great shows there. I love the Food Network too - from the average cooking show to the reality shows they host.
Ooh-this is a tough one for me. I would LIKE to be crafty, but the truth is that I don't know how. My creativity is expressed when I write and that is my creative activity. I have friends at work that have helped me become more crafty...so let's say I'm a beginner and I'm open to learning how to become more crafty.
Other things you should know about me...
I love to cook. I love teas (loose leaf or bagged) and coffees. I enjoy spending time with friends. I have an amazing prayer group that I've been attending for over 10 years. I speak French fluently-was an au pair in college for one semester in Paris. I love golfing, camping, walking, running, and doing anything outdoors in the summer. And I love having my summers off.
I take care in sending only quality items in swaps and would appreciate the same in return. I typically assign hearts based on quality, not quantity.
