Description:

I have noticed several Somerset articles that incorporate paper beads, whether rolled paper covered with UTEE or glazes, decoupaged wooden beads, and I'm sure there are others I didn't notice. I also love incorporating salvaged papers into crafts and jewelry.

So let's make our partner a set of 12 (or more) paper beads incorporating at least some salvaged papers such as gift wrap, book pages, sheet music, junk mail, etc. Package them in a small, decorated tin or box.

Take some inspiration from your partner's profile when creating the set, and write what you incorporated from their "likes" on the enclosed card for the swap.

So who wants to get gluey with me?

Is there a tutorial for this? I would love to try but have never made any before. Or which issues have this subject, any recent ones? Thanks!

Here are a couple of links to try:

http://gomakesomething.com/ht/recycled/paper-beads/ This link uses a method almost exactly like the one that I saw some time ago in a Somerset issue, but I can't remember which one it was!

http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Make-Paper-Beads/ Different glazing method used here

http://craftstew.com/jewelry-making/paper-bead-jewelry-for-adults A collection of several great how-to links in one place

Hope you join in! This is really pretty addictive...and can be done with scissors, basic Mod Podge (or glue or sealant), and a toothpick...
