Hello Fellow Swappers,

A simple Mail Art swap series for those who LOVE mail art!

Just decorate a normal sized envelope, go bigger if you desire. The twist is that inside that envelope you put a SURPRISE! It can be anything you'd like to send. An ATC, a poem you've written or read, a recipe, a profile surprise. Use your imagination.

Happy Creating!

What do you consider a normal sized envelope?

luminescentlove 07/28/2011 #

4x9 are the envelopes that are average here.. whichever size is the most common for where you live...

LavenderSprinkles 08/ 6/2011 #

any certain way it needs to be decorated? is it up to us?

flowerlady57 08/ 7/2011 #

Hi I just joined this group, this will be my first mail art. So I assume we decorate it anyway we want. Do we do it front and back?

luminescentlove 08/ 8/2011 #

it is all up to you, front and back is encouraged... more canvas to work with :)

flowerlady57 08/ 9/2011 #

I finished mine. Do we post these in here or just send them out? If we do need to post them how do I do that in here? Newbie:)

Picklez 08/ 9/2011 #

May I join?

luminescentlove 08/10/2011 #

nope you just send them out! and yes you may join

caitychu 08/10/2011 #

This is such an awesome idea! I'm a newbie, do we send them to everyone in this group?

luminescentlove 08/11/2011 #

oh nonoo! that would cost sooo much aha! you get assigned one partner.

Adventurer 08/11/2011 #

I'm interested in this swap but as I always like to work with my partners profile I see that at least one swapper in this swap has nothing written on theirs. The swap does suggest a profile surprise as one option so I think everyone should have a well filled profile and that goes for anyone to swap at any time.

luminescentlove 08/11/2011 #

yes, im just getting around to looking at all the profiles now :)

flowerlady57 08/12/2011 #

oops that maybe me, I will do it right now. sorry i wasn't sure how this all worked.

New to mail art and have a silly question. I am not a drawer by any means, but love to cut, paste, and arrange. But how do make sure they stay on during transit? Do you cover the entire thing with clear package tape? Modpodge? What is your opinion? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

flowerlady57 08/12/2011 #

I would still glue the pieces on and use a sealer like modge podge or acrylic gel. it gives them a protective coat

flowerlady57 08/12/2011 #

I have my profile done now

FarStarr 08/13/2011 #

I use a gel medium as my glue and I never have to seal them. Make sure you burnish all of you collage edges to make sure they're good and stuck.

caitychu 08/28/2011 #

I'm sorry, I was really busy. I will make up for the swap I missed.

Tronx 09/11/2011 #

ema819 I have so sent you an envelope. A lovely hand drawn one with a few hand drawn ATC's in it. If you had not gotten it yet you should have sent a message instead of giving me a 1 rude major.
