Description:

For this swap you will make 1 stunning Day of the Dead inspired necklace for 1 partner. This swap is for a somewhat elaborate and unique creation.

The pendant part of the necklace must relate to Mexico's Day of the Dead festivities. Think sugar skulls, dancing skeletons, Posada imagery such as ''La Calavera Catrina'' etc.

The pendant can be made from whatever medium you like but must be sturdy and durable. You can make it from scratch using polymer clay etc, use a framed image or alter existing objects such as small dolls, large skull beads, skeleton toys, jewellery findings, lockets or cabochon frames, small metal shrines, dominoes, bamboo tiles, bottle caps etc.

Size wise the pendant should be around 2 or 3 inches including any dangly bits.

The necklace part can be made from a combination of beads and chain, different style chains, layers of chains, a mixture of different glass, stone, shell, or shaped beads, nuggets, baubles, rhinestones, charms, even up-cycled vintage necklaces. I'm sure you can think of other ways that look good. What I'm trying to say is DO NOT just hang a pendant on a ball chain or thong.

Please spend time and effort creating a necklace your partner will love to wear. You do not need to use expensive supplies but make it special. DO NOT use wooden or plastic kiddie-craft type beads.

Please check you partners profile for preferred necklace length, any dislikes and favourite colours etc.

You can easily google info on Dia de los Muertos/ Day of the Dead to see lots of images relating to the subject to give you ideas. Also check out Day of the Dead/ Dia de los Muertos/ sugar skull jewellery on flickr and etsy.com for inspiration.

I will angel if necessary but as this is a group swap there should be no need to worry.

Any questions please feel free to ask.
