Description:

So I'm in Dallas mainly for the Memorial Day weekend and personal mini vacation.

I went into an Anthropologie store and saw this Party Animal Necklace but it's a whopping $38 that I'm not about to drop on a necklace! And I got to thinking I can make it and there's probably a tutorial out there.

And then I ran across this Anthro Party Animal Necklace Tutorial that gives step by step instructions on how to make this necklace. And you really only needs beads, pretty things, ribbons! Most of the stuff we already have!

Now the best animals I take it to use for this would be the medium size to bigger size kid's play animals. That you can normally find at your local zoo, maybe wal-mart. I know I can find them at Michael's craft store here. Don't get a flimsy kind that could break easily or won't hold up with all the bling bling you put into it. Try to get something more solid, etc.

Make sure all your pretties are glued down well to your animal of your choice. Try to get from the four choices, like in the picture. And try to decorate along the lines of the tutorial, but you're welcome to use any colors you choose, etc. The four animals are Zebra, Lion, Elephant, Giraffe. Your choice on what to do, we just are trying to make them look like the more expensive necklaces!

A good glue to use would be E6000 or similar! Make sure to get something that will be clear so glue streaks or blobs won't show through the goodies we're putting on it!

Try also to get a longer chain. So it will hang down farther for what we need. We want them to be fairly long, maybe a 22in chain or longer.

I'm giving us about a month to get our animal, chains and to make our party animal necklaces. This should be plenty to do! I know I'm going to be making probably more than just one of these! These would make some awesome little gifties to people!

If you have any questions, please do let me know. The tutorial is very well done and pretty much explains itself but if you do get hung up on something, don't be shy about asking!

I moved the dates on this for after I get back from my trip! That way we have plenty of time to play and practice our necklaces!

Hehe someone else hosted this exact same swap in another group! Since I have all the supplies I will probably join this one as well closer to the date.

Oh wow, I just saw one of these necklaces and a few others in Anthro I wouldn't mind making!

I love this! I would be extra happy if someone included a camel on mine - I collect 1 humped camels!! Great swap!
