Description:

This swap is for all teachers - current, retired, k-12, college, or doing their student teaching. In this swap we will be swapping supplies, tips, and stories, horror or uplifting. I noticed there were a lot of teachers here and I wanted to contact every single one of you to talk shop! Anyway, here are the parameters:

  1. Introduce yourself to your partner in a letter. What do you teach, where, how long, etc. This letter should also include a tip or two about classroom management, dealing with parents, colleagues or administrators, maybe a grading tip, and/or a learning strategy. I would suggest emailing your partner to see what grade or what they teach, just to get an idea of your audience.

  2. Add a story about something funny, horrifying, or uplifting that happened to you in the classroom, or is otherwise school related. Maybe someone streaked the basketball game or something!

  3. Send a minimum of $5 of teacher supplies. Could be teacher stickers, post its, pens, pencils, erasers, paper clips, etc. You know what you need!

Because of rising postage costs, I am going to limit this to USA only addresses. Sorry!
I reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason. Thanks for participating!!

Hey, this looks really cool, but I'm still in college in the process of getting my degree. I do spend 70 hours per semester in a classroom, does that count?

Instead of $5 in materials, can we list a theme wer are looking for worksheetes on that our partner might have or need? I would love some cute First Grade worksheets on weather, any holiday, butterflies, frogs, student reward certificates, etc!

Im in the same position as kassrose, could I still participate. My partner would not have to send me goodies. I would just love the letters of advice and experience.

Instead of supplies what about teaching units? I would love to share some of my Englishteaching units and receive some others. By units I mean lesson outlines, worksheets, assignments, rubrics etc. Ones I have written include "Alfred Hitchcock for year 10s" and "Dracula vs Buffy the Vampire Slayer for year 9".

Thanks for the great ideas! I still want my supplies, so how about hearts for sending lesson plans or units or worksheets? I was also thinking that the $5 could include a workbook or something similar. Does that help?

Ok I am doing a unit on Magnets for K. I am trying for my national boards. So if anyone has any ideas for inquiry scince and magnets.

sambob, AIMS has some great stuff in their book called Mostly Magnets. Send me a fax number in an email and I'd be happy to fax you copies!

I teach 5th grade science and really love to collect rocks. I also teach about oceans, matter and chemistry, 5 kingdoms of living things, cells and light and sound. I love stickers with a science theme, too! I can't wait for this to start!

Hi MissU! I'm a pre-k4 teacher. Can I still join? Or do you just really prefer k-12. I would looooove to hear advice about what we Pre-K teachers can do to make K-12 years a smoother ride.

I am also a mother of a 2year old, 4year old, 5year old and 6 year old and I have access to some great upper level "stuff" as well. May I join this swap?
