Description:

This swap is US only due to customs restrictions. Please check with your state before signing up to make sure you can receive spices in the mail.

With the holidays coming up I am cooking more than ever and thought it would be fun to share some of the wild spices in my cabinet with others. This should also be a low postage swap.

Here are the rules:

  • Good swappers only (4.5 or better, no no-sends in the last month, newbies with completed profiles). Contact me if you don't meet this criteria and want in.
  • Send each of your partners a usable amount of three different spices - enough of a spice that it can be used in at least two recipes. A usable amount is at least 1/2 a teaspoon, preferably more, unless you are sending something very expensive. Send each spice in a small ziplock or other well sealed container.
  • "Spice" can mean ground spices, herbs, sweet, savory, etc etc. Anything you would use to season food as you prepare it, baking, cooking, or eating.
  • Include information about each spice including its name and how you might use it.
  • SEND GOOD SPICES. This is not a chance to get rid of the ancient stuff in the back of the cabinet nor should you send the most boring spices you have. Send what you love to use, send the unusual and exotic. Send what you'd like to receive.

Please don't limit your partner with an extensive preferences list (sure, we'd all like to get saffron only). List allergies in the discussion section.

Please rate your partner a 5 once you get your spices assuming they meet swap criteria. It's no fun wondering if your stuff ever got there. PM your partner if you'll be late sending.

This is a fast swap so we have a chance to use these spices for Thanksgiving. If you like it I'll run it again in December.

LOVE this idea! Are you including herbs (crushed leaves) as well as spices ( ground seeds and barks and roots), savory as well as sweet? I think that's what you mean, but just checking.

I love these easy inexpensive swaps to share a bit of our life and likes with other swappers.

good point, I'll edit accordingly. Thanks! I like these low cost swaps too, we need more of them.

I'm looking for summer savory. If anyone has any requests, I'm happy to go scouting for something. I can get some really special 14% cinnamon oil content ground cinnamon that is exquisite! I love herbs & herb blends! Thanks for running this swap!

I'm so excited about this swap! What a clever idea. I personally dig just about any spice/herb, though I pulled and dried most of the herbs from my garden a couple of weeks ago (before the first hard frost hit us), so I'm pretty good for herbs, so maybe more spices instead of herbs (can I make that sentence run on any longer?!). I'm not afraid of a little heat, so if you've got a favorite "spicy" spice, that'd be cool. I lovelovelove cinnamon. Really, I'm not picky at all, though. Whatever is sent will be used and loved by me.

I would join but I'd be more willing to join a swap that sends maybe 2 partners each and and 2 different spices new in the jar or bag from the store. Some people can't get certain things but others can so kind of like the hunt for that spice. Maybe this could be used for a future swap There was a spice my friend in TN had while I was visiting but you can't get it here in CA I bought a couple jars there but that was years ago and would love more. So if you make a swap like that let me know I'd be right there!
