Description:

An art book (or artbook) is a collection of leaves of paper, parchment, or other material, bound together along one edge within covers. An artbook is not a literary piece but is a collection of images and graphics. Artbooks are almost often collections of a given topic, be it of a genre like fine art photography, a movie, a television series, or a given artist. In recent years, artbooks have been increasing in popularity, serving as coffee table reading, or as promotional material for media such as anime series or movies. (c) Wiki

Easy rules: send one artbook to one partner. Artbook: store boutht; A5 format (148 Γƒβ€” 210 mm) or bigger; 60 pages or more. Any theme by your choice. Local art/photography is VERY welcome.

These artbooks could be expensive, so no newbies, sorry. All participants with at least 5 compete type 3 swaps are welcome. No unexplained 1's and 3's.

Is there a photo of a handmade artbook that I can see? I've never made one before. Sounds interesting Is this kinda the same thing as an "altered" book?

I wish I could join, I have PLENTY of art books. Unfortunately my last partner was entirely rude and rated me with a one...so NOW, I do not meet the requirements

I too would like to see some links to art books. I have a pretty good idea of what to make but it sure would help to get a good look at one. T am thinking they aren't like decos which are small hand made books with collages and other added things. What I am understanding is that these are just lots of different pages with images and graphics and no collage work. Is that right?

kgeslab 12/15/2010 #

Here is a link I found. I think collage is ok. Not sure if this is right, but . . .

The only problem I see it that the time between the signup and send date is really close - Don't know if I'll have time to do this in that week and 1/2.

Are these supposed to be store bought, or handmade? The reference to "could be expensive" makes me think store-bought.

TO ALL I'm ready to discuss all requirements. I'm doing this swap first time. If you have any question or suggestion please pm me or left a comment.

Sorry girls (and may be boys), I didn't mean handmade artbooks! I only mean bought ones. Usually you can find many of them in giftstore or bookstore. NOT HANDMADE. That's why so little time between signup and send by dates.

If you'd like to make another swap about handmade artbook please go ahead. Sadly I'm not able to join, because I can't make anything beautiful with my hands to save my life.

Okay, now I understand what an art book is. My only concern is not to be flaked on. The last time I made a similar book for Swapbot and sent it out, not only did I not receive a book from my assigned person, the person I sent to left Swapbot the day I mailed and didn't even let me know it arrived or sent a Thank you.

Is there any way that we can get our partner's name early so we can maybe use their profile to pick a topic genre to work from?

I don't have a problem with the date due, just worry about being flaked after all the work.

Wait a minute, I just reread that, and are you saying to send a store bought already printed book about art? Like a book about Picasso, or about fairies, or movie stars like Marilyn Monroe?
