Description:

Weekly Journal Prompt: Around the Dinner Table

For this swap, you will create a journal page using the provided prompt. It can be an art page, a written page, or whatever combination you wish, but it should use an entire composition book size page of 7.5" x 9.75" (19 cm x 24,7 cm) with enough margin to allow a partner to mount the page into their own journals--1/4" (1/2 cm) or so margins. Use only one side of the page. Fold to send or not is up to sender, but to keep the postage reasonable, participants should expect folded pages. This will be a weekly swap. I will post late in the week, but no later than Saturday, deadline the following Friday, assign on Saturday or Sunday, and you must send by the following Tuesday.

I will angel this swap.

Newbies welcome, this is a good way to get started journaling, but no unsatisfactorily explained ones or threes, or no-send comments.

This is an international swap. Considering that international senders will regularly be paying international postage, be prepared to pony up for the occasional international postage. If you are assigned an international partner and really, truly, can’t afford the postage, PM me and we’ll work something out.

@midwestkiwi This is a lovely idea, but the time between assigning partners and send date is too short for me. I'm a 25 minute walk from the post office, which is open weekday mornings only (one of the glories of living in rural France!).
For example, if you assign on a Sunday afternoon, I don't find out about it until Monday morning (time difference between USA and western Europe), then I have a 3 hour window of opportunity to get the thing posted on Tuesday morning in order to meet the deadline. International swappers further east than me are going to find out their partner even later.

Perhaps you could consider making this a fortnightly (i.e. every two weeks) swap to give more time for getting pages in the mail?

I do feel pretty strongly about keeping this a weekly swap, but maybe the signup deadline doesn’t need to be so long. Would it help if moved signup to Tuesday, and assigned by Thursday?

I'm good with whatever, really. I like the weekly aspect - it makes it a little easier to build up a nice journal quickly ... but I'd also love to see more people participate. I wonder if you did 2 prompts basically at once - one with a week deadline and the next with a 2 week deadline? It would still accomplish your goal of one prompt for each week.

That way maybe you'd be able to get more participation on every other one, essentially .. and maybe it would bleed over to the one-week one, you know?
