I've never done anything like this, can you suggest things that people would put in a matchbox? As for decorating them do you paint, use stickers, fabric??

You can cover it anyway you want. I usually use either fabric or paper both inside and out. As for inside, tiny things reflecting your partners profile. Hope that helps
