Description:

For this swap you will compile a week of A5-sized entries on single-sided paper/card for your partner. (Single sided so they can stick them into a journal book).

That means for seven days in a row you will complete one of the following entries. It is preferred that you write these by hand, as you would in your own journal. You can use whatever pens, markers, background paper, etc. You like. You can stick things into the pages, as you would your own journal.

Think of it like a journal page exchange. Please send the original work to your partner and, if you like, keep a copy for your own journal book.

You will choose 7 out of the following 10 categories for your entries. You can write in any order you like:

  1. What are you thankful for right now? List at least 10 things.
  2. Who have you learned from in the past 12 months? What did they teach you?
  3. What was better about the world when you were a kid?
  4. Design a logo, profile image or an avatar for yourself. What represents you? What do you want people to know about you?
  5. List your top 10 favourite foods. If you can’t stop at 10 then keep going!
  6. List your top 10 plants/flowers. Draw or find pictures of them if you can.
  7. Describe your personal style. Are you a label-follower? Are you into the latest trends? What colours do you love to wear? Are looks, comfort or practicality more important?
  8. If you could start a zoo tomorrow (and money was no object) what animals would you put into your zoo first? Are zoos still important today? Why?
  9. If you could have a super-power for just one day, what super power would you have? What would you do?
  10. How do you know when you’re in Love? Is it more important to love and respect someone or to feel that spark of chemistry?

Those starting out journaling are welcome and encouraged to join.

FAQ:

  • What if my entry will not fit on one A5 page? IF your entry needs more space - use another A5 piece of paper.
  • When can I start? You can do this in ANY seven-day period, even before partners are assigned. This is an expression of who you are so it does not need to be tailored for your partner.
  • What are the measurements for A5-sized paper? A5 is half the size of A4 Office Paper.

A5 = 148 × 210mm OR 5.8 × 8.3 inches

  • Why that size? I've chosen A5 because it's a good size to post as it fits well into C5 sized envelopes. It's not too big for beginners, it's a standard that all should understand and it should fit into most journal books already established.
  • How should I mail it? Whenever possible journal pages should be sent flat, between card to protect them and marked "DO NOT BEND" If using any chunky elements like buttons, ribbon or rhinestones, (less likely on this round) it is recommended that the page be mounted on to card (like a grocery box) to give it strength.
  • What if someone flakes on me? Although I will be checking each profile before assigning partners, I will angel this swap with colour copies of my answers due to the time-intensive nature of this swap. Then I will boot their butt out of the group!
  • What if I'm running late due to unforeseen circumstances? Contact your swap partner, and me, @sweetypiedie the swap coordinator.
  • What if I have more questions? Please read back through the swap details again, and if you can't find the answer comment below as I will check back here periodically and your questions may help others as well. If you have questions about your past ratings and how that will effect this swap send me a PM.

Have fun, send quality, think about your answers and send on time!!

damilola 08/23/2010 #

how does it work electronic and pasting in a journal ?? where did i miss something ??

sweetypiedie 08/23/2010 #

Whoops! Thanks for the heads up. My mistake - changing it to a type 3 swap now.

damilola 08/23/2010 #

sigh I was thinking i might scan my pages, would have been cheaper, lol.

sweetypiedie 08/24/2010 #

@damilola - Sorry dear... but that is a good idea for a swap! Got me thinking now!

nermalski 09/14/2010 #

question...if we don't fill up all of the space can we decorate the entry we did with doodles, or art, etc?

Florcis 09/20/2010 #

Is there a limit on the number of sheets we send, or is that up to us? I tend to write A LOT on my own journal, but I wouldn't want to take up too much space on my partner's.

sweetypiedie 09/21/2010 #

@nermalski - I would encourage people to write as much as possible but doodling and art is welcome too!

@Florcis - I write a lot too so I would say no. Maybe try to stick to a maximum of 3 sheets per question. If it is something you're really passionate about who am I to stop you writing? Personally I wouldn't care how much you wrote but best to check with your partner to see what they think.

Great, thanks :))

No problem :)
