Description:

So, all of us who are paper people have interesting bits and pieces in our stash and this swap will move them around a little. The idea is to use a number 10 envelope or a greeting card envelope to fit bigger peices and fill it up - about an ounce - so it will only need a single 44¢ stamp. They can be any size - unfolded please - and a variety of patterned/ or pretty papers, just not a envelope full of plain paper, make it a variety :) you may include SOME plain paper but, not all. ... just keep it to a single envelope and a single stamp. minmum size should be 1'x 2....

You should not purchase anything new but try to make it as nice a variety of scraps that you would be happy to receive it.

This will be a US only swap since this is about a cheap quick and dirty single first class stamp swap... and is open to everyone... for new people, I do reserve the right to ban people who have had no-sends or look potentially problematic. please no flakers!

Paper that is not acceptable: wrapping paper, newspaper, paper that is all wrinkled up -- send something people can not only use and would be excited to get but also that are things you would be excited to get.

please NOTE: Please write on the envelope what swap this is. For example: 44¢ stamp swap thanks!**

--> these are the BASIC requirements. please feel free to use more than one stamp, if you want to. you can use any size envelope you wish, but the requirements above are a guideline.PLEASE do, send your partner just a few sheets.. fill it to an oz to make it fair! <---

I don't have a postage scale and tend to "overstuff" my paper swaps. Is there a penalty for going over the alloted 44 cents?

lilpinktyger 07/29/2010 #

lol, not at all :) Just be aware that if you dont put enough postage on a swap, your partner may have to pay the overage and that has happened to me a couple times :)

Because I had an issue with a person and a explaination or hearts-

If someone sends you an extra special swap package that far exceeds the swap requirements, you can give that person a heart. The option to give someone a heart only appears when you give them the highest rating ("5 - I got my stuff and it met posted swap requirements"). Under this rating option a check box will appear that you can mark if you want to give a heart. You do not have to give anyone a heart just because you gave them the highest rating. We suggest that you reserve giving hearts to those swappers who you think deserve even more than the highest rating (more than 5 points). The number of hearts a person has collected will be shown on their profile page next to their average rating. Lots of hearts indicates a very special swapper!

yes any lumpy envie has to have extra postage and has to say non machinable on envie. If I join, I just can keep it at one stamp. But Im def. watching for now.

Candyn29 07/29/2010 #

@lilpinktyger I would also suggest reenforcing your envie with tape, I just got one ripped in the mail.

badandknowsit2 07/29/2010 #

definitely candyn i got one today that i have no clue how it got here the contents were falling out all seems were busted but had the contents still in it

lilpinktyger 07/29/2010 #

I cant believe the post office is so careless sometimes! ALWAYS reinforce your envelopes to protect your pacakges ;) Lesson learned the hard way ;)

BrittanyMarie 07/29/2010 #

I am a newbie, can I join? I promise I wont flake!

Can we send A FEW pieces of solid colored paper IF it's something pretty? Also, can we mail our swap out in a greeting card size envelope instead of a large business size envelope? This would allow larger pieces pf paper to be sent. Likewise, can smaller size "scrap" pieces be shared in this swap, as long as they are usable? I usually work on smaller scale projects, so scraps are fine by me, as long as they're roughly at least around 1" x 2".

I love swaps that require just one stamp like this one. I've done quite a few already, & you will be amazed at how much you can get into one envelope for 44 cents. I have a digital kitchen scale (just happened that the old one keeled over & I had to buy another ... and made sure this one is digital) that is very accurate. Before I got the scale, I used to use the postage scale at work, which didn't really tell me how much it weighed but let me know when I went over. And since this one is all about paper, just imagine how much can go into the envelope -- ffar more than my previous swaps. Everyone will love this, I'm sure of it! Thanks, lilpinktyger, for thinking of this one! :)

I didn't even notice that it said PATTERNED papers! I may drop out

lilpinktyger 07/31/2010 #

you can send pretty anything... just make sure its useable

lilpinktyger 07/31/2010 #

It doesnt HAVE to be patterned... anything that people can use thats pretty... Not just plain paper ;)

minniemack 07/31/2010 #

@ctyankee -trying to imagine your scale keeling over LOL

minniemack 07/31/2010 #

@lilpinktyger -now that you've edited the description can you delete the part where I say "I didn't notice that it said PATTERNED papers!"? Makes me look like a doofus :-)

I guess I have had some not so greatly filled envelopes in these swaps.I seem to get most of my swaps sent to me with 0.3 or 0.4oz. in them. Not even close to 0.9 oz.

It was good reading all the comments. I always make my envelopes out of sturdy paper (either scrapbook or calendar pages), and I always reinforce all sides with clear packing tape. I always walk my swaps to the post office on my lunch hour (it's a ten minute walk one-way; and gets me away from my desk). My post office gals look forward to my pretty handmade envelopes, and I tell them, "yeah, I'm mailing more bulky mail - i.e. needs the extra postage stamp. @ctyankee I never thought of using a kitchen digital scale - I have one for Weight Watchers, which I'm going to try. But, nevertheless, I know I'll end up overstuffing. I have so many pretty papers that I love to share.

lilpinktyger 08/ 1/2010 #

Minnie... Lol don't worry. It was a clairifiation and I do take everyones comments and suggestions into concideration when I host swaps :)

lilpinktyger 08/ 2/2010 #

wow.. since this is so popular, I think I will host them once or twice a week. :) I know we ALL could use new paper for our stashes :)

buzibee271 08/ 2/2010 #

lilpinktyger 08/ 2/2010 #

ArtyBeth3 08/ 2/2010 #

minniemack 08/ 2/2010 #

I love coordinators who read the comments !! heart

sunflowerabby 08/ 3/2010 #

How do people feel about images in this, that aren't part of a patterned paper. Like, say, a cupcake I cut out of a magazine. Or a recycled front of a card? I am new to swapping; just trying to feel it out.

lilpinktyger 08/ 3/2010 #

Sunflower, you can include that as well.... Its mostly supposed to be papers though :)

lilpinktyger 08/ 3/2010 #

Minnie... Thank you :). I always read comments so I know what people like and don't like and try to change accordingly so more people will join. And so I know what's more wanted and what isn't :). I am for sure going to do this once a month! I love the one stamp swaps as well.
