Description:

In this swap you will make a deco book . Size 5" X 7" pages. It should have at least 12 pages besides the front/back cover page. You will decorate your front & back covers (outside) as you see fit in Harry Potter style.

Inside front cover should bare your name, nickname at Swap-Bot, Date (if you wish) and address (this is important so it will make its way back to you). Inside right cover you should make a intro page and make lines for each of those decorating to print and sign their names there (nicknames should be included).

Then you are going to send this Harry Potter themed deco to your partner instructing them (to do one or two pages), and then they must return to the book to you. Then next month you will get a new partner and this will be done until the books are completed.

If you need to see what a themed deco book looks like:

HERE IS MY HARRY POTTER DECO BOOK. I WONT BE BINDING IT TILL I AM THROUGH!

Those pages are for the first Deco Swap I ever did and it was a really large one, so don't get overwhelmed by all the pics.

1) You only make the 5" X 7" Deco. Do cover, inside cover and a sign-in page.

2) Mail it to your partner.

3) They will receive it, decorate their part, and return it to you.

4) You will receive someone elses' Deco Book. You do the 1 or 2 pages they allow for you & return the book to its creator.

5) Then next month you will get a different person (if you participate) and you will do a couple pages and return the book. Someone will do the same to yours.

If you are in anyway confused, please feel free to ask questions. Do not participate if you have postage issues, since this is an International Swap. Also you must be in good trader standing! These Deco books are marvelous when they are completed. You are being given plenty of time to do a couple pages and return (1 month).

Maybe to save on shipping we could just decorate and keep the one sent to us until the next month then we can send that one to our new partner? last person sends it back to the owner? Just a thought.

You know I went over this too. The other swap was at a site where the hostess could assign the partners herself, but here the computer assigns them, so if you keep it andthat is not your partner next month. You will be returning that one, and getting another to return anyways. Unless I am mising something here. But by making them homemade, they wont be as thick or heavy as the ones you see in those Flick'r photos.

You also have the option to quit or wait an extra month between. Or tell your partner to do more pages, so it fills faster (I had a partner that let us do 5 pages in their book) - those are options too. It really is worth it when it's done. There are so many other swaps that cost more to ship here. You'll always cherish this.

Well I finished my pages and my cover! I really am happy with it. It might be a bit heavy and not as easy to decorate once bound. So, once everyone is in I will let you guys send your whole friendship book or just the 2-4 pages you want your partner to decorate, and then you can bind up the whole book when finished.

Remember, we will be doing this once a month for at least a few months so you don't always have to participate but you can participate as much as you would like to get more people filling your book/pages.

When partners are assigned I will also send you a specific recap of your options and basic requirements. You have to do 2 pages (front and back, one back will have your name, nickname, date and what House you are in). EXAMPLE: I am in Slytherin. You can use a variety of media. Create images and pages your partner will be thrilled to look at! Just don't make them sooo thick their books can never close (there will be others adding to these books and they will want to add embellishments as well).

Well, you would just the Deco you have to your new partner, then would send it to their next partner, and on and on until it's the last page in the book. The person who decorates the last page in the persons book would then mail it back to who it was made for. Does that make more sense??

moxsapphir 06/24/2010 #

Well, it does make sense, but if we did that and there were several people in the swap - there would be no "accountability" for flaking. Say I had your book, did my part, and then passed it on and somewhere before it got back to you, someone kept it and left Swap-Bot. Now, who gets the blame for the flaking. You see what I mean?

1) I have decided due to costs. You dont have to send the bound book, only the 1-2 5" X 7" pages you want your partner to work on. Send them in a proper flat mailer. Do not bend them. One of the four sides will have your info. See in the above swap description.
