Do you mean buttons as in 'doing up your clothes' or buttons as in 'pin badges'?

PumpkinSeedMama 08/ 2/2007 #

Yes, it is an International Swap. Thanks for asking....great question!! :)

Buttons......as in buttons you would find sewn on your clothing.

I just found some really CUTE buttons today. I am so excited about this swap. I LOVE BUTTONS...especially so the botton can be used on other creative items ... besides sewing.

Me too Vicki. Currently I've been making a lot of wire crochet cuff bracelets and using buttons for the closure. I've just finished my first kumihimo bracelet and used a button on that as well. And I've got ideas of caterpillar bracelets with buttons as the accent beads floating around in my head. I haven't been able to get buttons out of my mind lately (or bracelets it seems). This swap came at the perfect time - something more to do with my buttons! Just a few more days until the partners are assigned. I can't wait :D

I love buttons!!!! I too keep my buttons in antique mason jars which I also collect and love. I have never sent buttons through the mail. What is the best way to mail them without them getting damaged?

PumpkinSeedMama 08/ 8/2007 #

Just wrap them in bubble wrap. I think a bubble envelope would be fine too. Anyone else have any ideas for shipping them?

mrsD 08/ 9/2007 #

I sometimes sew them onto cards, then put the card between 2 thin peices of cardboard, then send in a bubble envelope, to keep them immobile during shipping.

Great idea Mrs. D!

As you probably read above, I use my buttons to make jewelry. I meant to ask this at the end of that comment but aparently forgot to. So here's the question... What does everyone else do with their buttons?

lvpoohbr2 08/10/2007 #

Well, I mostly just have them. I love to look at them and I love how they look in my mason jars. I do however dive into them when an atc, chunky book, scrapbook page, or any crafty type thing seems to be screaming for a pretty or unusual button. ΓƒΕ“

Well, being the Queen of Hot Gluing....I love the kind that have the "hole" on the back. I snip that off and use the buttons to adorn all kinds of things.

I've just started using buttons in my jewelry, mainly fabric buttons that I make. I too love collecting vintage buttons in old mason jars. :o) I'm thinking about making a button ornament for Christmas this year.

Nanvan, buttons in your favorite colors are on the way to you!

Robin Bartoletti: Your buttons will be in the mail first thing in the morning from So. California. ΓƒΕ“

sharrona 08/15/2007 #

sending mine right away!

starofsong 08/15/2007 #

I use buttons in my crazy quilt creations, on purses, on wall hangings, on Christmas ornaments, on clothing as decoration as well as functional. When I throw away old clothing - I always cut off the buttons first.
