Is there a recommended website for instructions on making envelopes for those of us who are interested in this swap (like myself!!!) who have never made envelopes but really want to learn?

here's one from Mirkwood. i've opened an envelope and traced around it, too. :-)

Hipster, I have used the templets and I've made my own. But, NOTHING beats just tracing around envelopes that you love the size of. Tear it open and trace around it, I make all mine from the same three sizes. for ATC, Zen's, Photos.... well and adding a letter.

Hey sweetie, I hope you're doing good. Blessings HIppie

I agree with what everyone else is saying - when you find an envelope you like, open it carefully and trace around it to make your own template. You can trace it onto a heavy cardstock or cardboard to make a sturdy template. I use double-sided tape to seal the flaps. It's that simple; and you'll save a lot of money by not buying templates. I've made a lot this way.

Here's a tip: The 12" x12" pads of scrapbook paper make nice envelopes, as do calendar pages (good way to recycle them). If you make them out of a flimsy material (magazine pages,) make sure you glue the page to another paper (copy paper works well), to make it sturdy for mailing.

magazine ads can have some great photography but the paper is usually fairly thin. I use up my stash of 'ugly paper' as the liner to add stability for mailing since the inside isnt as visible as the outer image -- plus put the paper to good use :)
