'New Year - New Start' : House and Home Cleansing' Kit - International

(edited to give another couple of days to sign and mail!)

I know we're all thinking about Christmas – but here's something to freshen your spirit and let you take a break from holidays, just when you may need it most. January is coming, and a new year with it. Let's create a 'New Year - New Start' house and home 'cleansing' kit!

Take a freezer ziplock or similar bag that will fit into a business-size (A4) envelope. Select some items that you would like to give a friend to refresh and cleanse her home to begin the new year afresh. The kit shouldn't cost more than 8 – 12 dollars. This is for everyone, whatever your personal spiritual beliefs, so feel free to share thoughtfully and considerately from your own heart. 1 partner, 1 kit to make up and send out, 1 kit to receive in return! Here are some ideas for things to include:

*sample-size packets of cleaning products, either traditional or alternative

*sagebrush for smudging and purification

*faux chamois polishing cloth

*scripture or other spiritual quotes regarding healing and cleansing

*lightly-scented potpourri, candle or incense (check your partner's profile for allergies first!)

*lingerie drawer sachet/linen closet cedar hanger/shoe deodorizer inserts (again, check the profiles!)

*house blessings from various traditions and faiths

*small bath bomb or bubble bath packet

*a pair of fancy rubber gloves

*a microfiber cloth or similar specialty cleaning fabric

*gems and crystals of healing, cleansing, etc.

*wrapped mini-soap (handmade would be better than a hotel bar)

*a small décor piece (a vintage-style 'Laundry' sign? A pretty toilet paper holder? Handmade ATC with a saucy retro woman waving her feather duster? An engraved pebble that says 'Peace'?)

*or any other ideas you have that fit into the 'cleansing' and 'fresh start' theme!

A short note, letter, or poem which explains some of the items might also be a good idea, if you've chosen something more esoteric than a travel-size shampoo or crocheted potscrubbie! This is not profile-specific, except for the scented items, so you can start shopping/selecting/creating now.

The usual sort of rules will apply: please don't sign up if you think you can't complete and send out the project in time, and please, obviously, do not join if you think you would be offended by receiving any of the possible items. You must have no unexplained 1s or 3s in the last six months, a 4.8 rating or higher, and must have completed at least 10 mail (not electronic) swaps. The right is regretfully reserved to remove any suspicious swappers/known flakers due to unmet criteria, incomplete profiles, or outstanding complaints.

Let's refresh our rooms and spirits together!

Glad to see people watching! Please let me know if you think the dates need changing, and if that would make a difference to participation - I wanted to make sure people got their stuff in time for the New Year, but perhaps folks are all too busy around that time.... :)

I just flashed on something, we'll have to be careful of what we send internationally as far as herbs and cleaning products. Some countries are fairly limited on what you can send.

Mostly Australia ;) but yes, thanks for the heads-up for everyone!

I'm going shopping for my stuff today: if absolutely no one else signs up, I'll send my kit out as a RAK :D

lots of times people sign up on the last day to sign so don't give up too soon! I haven't gotten to shop yet so I moved to the watch list, hopefully I'll get some shopping done soon!

(grins at mystmaiden) I'll tell you the dirty little truth - I'm hoping this will help me and others get motivated to go BUY some cleaning stuff and CLEAN our own places! Nothing like a bit of accountability from friends and other artists, right? And if you've got a sweet little package sitting right there saying 'Use me, please!' it should really help get us over those mid-winter post-holiday blues.....

What does a buisness A4 size envelop look like. Can I get one from the post office?
