Description:

I thought it would be a lot of fun to make a kitty to trade with another crafter. This is for those proficient in sewing, knitting or crocheting. Each person will make one cat for one partner. You will need to choose one of the patterns I have picked out for you to use. None of these are hard, if you are proficient in any of the categories..

Newbies are welcome, this is for people that can produce a good finished article. They will be given the benefit of the doubt as far as sending out on time, etc. However, us old timers must not have any 1's or 3's in the last 3 months. No exceptions. I will review all crafters and ban if necessary. You must have a completed, filled out profile or you will be banned.

As you can see, I am giving you plenty of time. None of these should take that long. It is your choice which pattern you want to use, color is also your choice, which means you can start right away.

You can substitute felt for fabric on the fabric kitty if you so desire. Use poly fil (new) for stuffing.

I am going to make this an international swap. This should be fairly light in weight so that the cost is affordable.

Here are the patterns:

knitted kitty - choice of 2, one is on circular needles and not everyone can use circulars. http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTkate.html

fabric or felt kitty http://www.thebestofdiy.com/index.php/archives/2009/03/23/pointy-kitty-pattern

crochet kitty http://www.crochetme.com/fat-kitty

I think this will be fun - there will be some continuity in what we swap with each other so we can look at the pattern and see how well each other did.

PM or message me here if you have questions.

I will angel if someone flakes.

A serious heartfelt THANKS to bettflow09. She taught me how to link.

This sounds really fun although I'm new at making stuffies. So, don't know if I will be able to join this one or not, but thought I would help ya out with the links anyway:))

Just curious, why only those three patterns? Would you be ok with people using other patterns if you approved them first?

I thought that by doing the same patterns, we would establish some continuity in this swap. I thought it would be fun to compare each others creations by the picture of what it is supposed to look like. I've never done any of these patterns before either, so we will be doing them for the first time together. That way this is a real challenge for people that have the ability to do a new project.

Would it be an idea to send the kitties unstuffed, with some yarn to finish it after stuffing it yourself, to cut down on the cost of shipping (internationally)? I know it's not quite the same as receiving a finished stuffy, but it might be exciting to see your kitty 'inflate' and take shape, and sending flat is just so much cheaper. Just an idea...

I would prefer that it be stuffed. Use this to figure out the cost. It could always go in a manilla envelope as opposed to a box.

I have made the pointy kitty and the fat kitty (on the 2nd one now) and neither of them were hard. I cannot circular knit even though I looked at a video of how to do it - not going to happen. These patterns are very manageable.
