Description:

This swap is exactly what the title proclaims. I've done this for my own personal use in order to throw in a little randomness to my novel for years, and I would love to see what others can come up with and think that it could be a great tool for us to use and share.

For this swap you will write on 100 index cards different character names, settings, plot arcs, a specific word or phrase for your partner to incorporate into their main character's speech, and other various forms of randomness that could plausibly be incorporated into a novel for your partner to use as inspiration when they are feeling like they've hit a particular roadblock in writing.

This should be at least partially tailored to your novel genre, if you have one already, so please leave a comment with your genre on this page. If you are undecided, note that too, please.

Hi! I'm doing a fanfic novel set in White Wolf's old World of Darkness. If you're not familiar, think "Urban Fantasy", pretty dark with magics and things that go bump in the night rubbing elbows and crossing swords...as it were.

My novel is going to be a dark vaguely steam-punk fantasy set around a club of explorers that go after occult phenomenon. Think of Jules Verne meets Lovecraft.

Mine is a sort of supernatural/urban fantasy/horror type of thing, but there is some police procedural involved and little bit of humor (I hope).

And Chaz, I so want to read that story.

LOL, i've been doing these index card prompts for several years... i call it my "Pack Of Doom!" heehee! :-) it'll be even more fun this year with things someone else has come up with-- i'll be really blindsided and kicked in the rump to get writing again :-)

my novels tend toward fantasy (with the characters questing for something) and fairy tale retellings. for fun, in my PoD deck, you can suggest what my characters could quest for and/or tell me what fairy tale to do this year... i always start my novel with a random sentence gathered from a random book, and you can add some starter sentences, too, if you like :-) just some ideas!

I haven't decided what I'm going to write for NaNo this year. It will be an inspirational romance, a family saga or a mystery. The only thing I do know is that music and mourning will be themes in the story -- those themes are in everything I write. :)

I am probably going to try and work on either the second half of my first novel (which I finished the first half last year but never went back to) or a second novel on the same topic and split it up (not sure yet but I hate not finishing things however I might need something fresh to work with). Anywho, my topic is mystery/lite urban fantasy. Thing Christopher Moore meets Agatha Christie (but no where near as good) or maybe Charliane Harris.

Hey now, Boupie. No negative self-talk. Novels don't get finished that way!

I'm geared primarily into the dystopian/sci-fi genre. I'm thinking I will probably do something very futurist in nature so anything along those lines will be great.

Inspiration is on the way to my partner in California. Enjoy!
