Description:

This is a Canada Only version of the fun, round robin journal swap! I'll go by other examples and limit this swap to 10 people. And PLEASE read the entire swap description so that everyone understands what will be happening, thanks! :D

We will each purchase or make a journal and then decorate it in a way that shows who we are and our creative style, AND MAKE OUR NAME AND SWAP-BOT NAMES VERY CLEAR ON THE COVER OR INSIDE COVER (this is important to getting our journals back after their journey!!) . We then send it to our assigned partner.

The person who receives the journal will then decorate and embellish a few pages, draw, write something encouraging/fun/etc, CLEARLY add their swap-bot name, and then send it to THEIR partner.

Swap-bot will assign a single partner, to whom you will ALWAYS be sending each journal you receive to when you are done decorating it. I will also message you with who you should be expecting to get the journals from, this will also be the same person each time!

After you receive the journal please decorate it, write in it, and send it WITHIN 4 DAYS , so it won't take to long to get OUR original journals back to us. All you have to do is write and decorate a few pages, so don't be worried about the small turn-around between sends! I've also given you 2 weeks between the sign-up and send dates, so you have plenty of time to buy/make your journals, especially if you get started now!

In order to trace and correct any problems throughout the journals' journeys and make this run smoothly, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE comment on the swap's board when you have SENT EACH journal (telling us whose it is, who you sent it to, and when you sent it), and you have RECEIVED each journal (telling us whose it is, who you received it from, and when you received it).

I will e-mail swap members with updates as to who has since received and sent their journal, and how many changes of hands are left untill its return!

To make this swap successful, remember guys, communication is key!! If anything funny happens, PLEASE let me know, and let all associated partners know (sender, receiver, and/or journal owner)! How rewarding will it be to be able to say your journal changed through 9 hands all around the country and made it back to yours! :D

MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! This is a Canada only swap to limit shipping, right? Since only about 20-40 pages will be filled along the way, please do not buy a large/heavy book, it needs to be small enough to be sent through the 'other letter mail' option through Canada Post (costs around a $1.50), this means it cannot be wider than 1.5 to 2cms MAXIMUM, (and about 25x35 cms). If in doubt, ask your friendly neighbourhood post-office, they're very helpful, and they'll stick it through their 'test slot' to make sure it isn't too wide!

This is open to swappers with a rating of 5 only , this may limit members, but wouldn't you rather a less filled up journal than no journal at all! And no newbies . Sorry guys :(

If any part of this swap confuses you, I would be delighted to answer any questions, and I'm sure other members would be as well! Just post in this swap's message board or message me!

Good luck with this, and I hope that everyone who signs up here understands that for these to work, EVERYONE must agree that communication is the KEY to success!

If you have any other questions, let me know, or check out some of my the other rr's - some of the comments/questions there are fabulous -

swap #2766, 2780, 2788, 3050, 3054, and 3417 have a great week, everyone, MaryB (in the USA, so I can't sign up - boo hoo)

For anyone confused, here are some great faq's, created by MaryB 'Gram's button box'! Thanks Mary!

"What size journal should I get?" I think we don't have to go larger than about 9 inches by about 6 inches, (22.86 cm x 15.24 cm) - not too big, not too small. EDIT by me: and please NO WIDER than 2cm, so it can go cheap letter post for around $1.50 (starts at $1.10 actually), so that this swap can be affordable for everyone!

I've also seen some smaller, some that are more square than rectangle - - but the point here, is that you are picking out YOUR OWN journal - and it will come back to you, so if you LIKE some particular style, then that should be YOUR choice. (does that make sense?) Please be kind, and don't pick something that weighs a ton, because 10 people are going to be shipping it around the country - ~smile~

"What is the PROCESS of how this works?" Every person will receive (from me) the swap partner that they receive from, and also (from swap-bot) who they send to - (and yes, you will always receive from and send to the same swap-partners) - this is why we are limiting this to about 10 swappers, or it could get very outrageous!

Since we are not open to newbies, I sure do HOPE that means that we all understand what it's like to be on the receiving end of a no-sender, so this will help to track down any journals.

AFTER you send a journal, please post here that you received so-and-so's journal and sent it on its way. That way we know where each one is in the process, and yes, can track them down if necessary.

"Can I do the same thing in each journal, or does each one have to be different?" As far as I'm concerned, you can do whatever your creativity guides you to do - if you have a wonderful idea, carry it through so everyone can be the happy recipient of it - if you think of a "theme" where each journal is related, yet different, that would be awesome also. And if you want to go completely off in a different direction on each one, that will be superb! I think I can safely speak for this wonderful COMMITTED group of swappers that I'm sure we will enjoy whatever each person puts forth - let it speak from your heart - even if you don't think you are artsy, be encouraging. It's gonna be FUN!

more than 1 journal? it may be possible that at some point in this process, you will end up with more than one journal in your possession at a given time. If that is the case, you CERTAINLY can send them all off together, since they will all be going to the SAME partner. (Plus this would save on mailing!) Please, however, do not hold any journals more than a few days, "waiting" for others to arrive. (Just make sure that you remember to add something to every journal before sending it on its way! lol)

WoooooHooooo! I'm in. I am currently in two swaps, Gram's and one that changed from sending a decorated journal to a round robin. That one seems to be held up by one girl who hasn't been sending on. So, please dear host, make sure that you carefully select our partners and make sure they are fully committed.

I'll do my best Ellen, and thanks for joining! :D

Also, I've been given some advice, one tidbit of which is that when we SEND our journal, that we NOT CLICK on "I've sent my items" but rather just tell everyone in the comments section! This keeps the swap in the current swaps section, so that we don't forget to keep it going, rather than in the previous swaps section where we're liable to never see it and forget about it! I would appreciate it if everyone did that, just another measure that we can take to make sure we get our own journal's back!

And if we don't have the full ten swappers, you just plain feel like it, or you receive a notebook that has more than about 50 pages) feel free to go beyond a few pages (just a 50 page notebook with all 10 people signed up would give 5 pages per person, for example!)But please don't add any large or heavy embellishments that will affect postage! Thanks guys! -Spoon
