International, 1 partner, cost of one stamp to mail.

You will NOT be sending a journal for this swap! But, you will KEEP a journal for the stated time, and reflect on the experience with your partner, and share those reflections with your partner. But you are not sending a journal, so this should mail as a letter.

I recently listened to a podcast talking about the Yule season, and they commented that the Winter Solstice is a wonderful time to keep or start a Shadow Journal. I thought maybe others in the group would like to try this out as well.

What is a Shadow Journal? A shadow work journal is a place to document and process the negative or upsetting parts of your personality without judgment. At its core, shadow work is an effort to look at the parts of yourself you don't like and embrace them as parts that need love and attention. This is why we aren't sending our journals to our partners. There could be some really personal stuff in these pages. So, the journal is for you to keep (or dispose of).

You can find Shadow work journals at book stores, Glamazon online, I found some printable options on Etsy. Or you can find lists of questions like in this web post Buy one, print one, use an old notebook with questions you find online, do a tarot method - that is totally and fully up to you! You should plan on keeping this journal for a minimum of 30 days, though, beginning on the Solstice, December 21 (in the northern hemisphere. If you're in the southern hemisphere can you do this? Yep! I have no problem with that, just keep the journal from Dec 21 on.

Starting no later than Dec 21, keep a shadow journal for 30 days. I know life gets in the way, but really try to do SOMETHING for each day. If you miss a few days, just make a note of that to your partner. Some shadow journals I've seen even have allowances for missed days. I'll try to link some of those below in the comments.

After you've kept your journal for 30 days, reflect on the experience. (Such as: Did you learn anything about yourself? Do you think you would do this method again? Why or why not? Did you find things that were too painful to deal with? What did you do in those situations?) Take care of yourself for this swap! If you get started and can't continue, that's ok! That's why the sign up and send by come AFTER the 30 days. It might be good to look at the questions for the journal prompts and start slowly.

Recap:

Find a shadow journal or set of a minimum of 30 questions for shadow work.

Start keeping the journal on Dec 21st.

Keep the journal for 30 days

Once partners are assigned, reflect on your shadow work and tell your partner what you've learned about yourself.

Send the letter off to your partner.

Rate your swap when you receive your partner's reflections.

Questions? Comments? Please PM me!! SB does not send alerts to comments left below, so I will not see them. I do check my PM's though! :)

If you would like to share some Shadow Journals you have found - names, authors, links - please feel free to do so below.
