Our Ceilidh is just a few days away and in anticipation of the event, letโs create a little ambience. We will be making a lantern which will add beautiful dappled light to any occasion. This will be an email swap because of the glass jar used. For the swap we will create a lantern using a medium sized jar, large enough to put a tea light in and tall enough to allow for decoration. What you will need for this is a glass jar (I used a pickle jar for the image at the top of the swap), a paint brush, modpodge and autumn leaves. To make this lantern, first, paint the outside of your jar with modpodge. While it is still wet, put your leaves onto the outside of the jar you have just painted, press them down so they are flat, then modpodge over the leaves and set aside to dry. That is it, simple and elegant. When choosing your leaves, try to find those that are not too thick or too creased as they will not stay flat on the jar. I had to snip a few of mine to get them to lay flat. Also, tall jars look stunning but it is difficult to light the candle. This lantern is lovely on a picnic table or mantle, and Iโve used mine in both places to great advantage. Once you have completed your lantern, light it up and take a photo to send your partner along with a cheery little note. |
