Description:

" Ships that pass in the night, and speak each other in passing, Only a signal shown and a distant voice in the darkness; So on the ocean of life, we pass and speak one another, Only a look and a voice, then darkness again and a silence."

Is a century & half old quote from a poem by H.W. Longfellow, & is strangely inspiring. Commonly said about two people who meet for a short time, share a few words, only to separate and continue on their way, never to see each other again.

  • Create a piece of art

  • to be mailed flat,

  • inspired by these lines.

All art techniques, all media, all art forms are welcome. If you are making an ATC, please make it 2.5"X3.5". If you are making a postcard, please make it 4"X6" on larger. Naked postcards will do, so will decorated envelopes, BUT, if the decorated envelope is your art, then there has to be a real letter inside, not just a 2-line note. If a postcard, it is sender's choice to send naked or in an envelope.

Please make a pleasant, positive-energy sort of art.

Please include a note. You may talk about your art technique & why you enjoy it, or what visual imagery the lines produced, or about such an encounter you had at some point, which you still fondly remember. Or, just a greeting! Please clearly mention

  • Swap name,

  • group name,

  • your name, your swap-bot Id,

  • AND the art form that you have made.

Title to your artwork, & signing it is cool, but not mandatory. It's also nice to address your partner by name.

I will angel if required.
