Back by popular demand!
This will be a fun USA only Senders choice swap!! You will have 2 partners and to join, please have completed and been rated for at least 10 swaps, maintain a 4.98 rating and have no unexplained/unresolved 1's or 3's that are given within the last 6 months. This is a fairly involved, increased postage swap so I classify it as a 3 & I reserve the right to ban any user from this swap, for any reason, and without explanation. If you join and complete your swap, you will get two 5 ratings. Hearts are given at the receivers discretion, but do NOT rate down if you are not pleased with the contents of your kits. If they met requirements (at least 8 different types of stationery/pen pal items in a closeable box/pouch) you must rate a 5.
Now, let's get to the nitty gritty! You will get to go on a $10 shopping spree at your favorite Dollar Tree, dollar store or dollar spots (no one item can cost more than one dollar & spend only $10.00 total) to create 2 pen pal kits with your haul. This is a senders choice swap so as soon as you hit that join button, you can go shopping!
Your kits should have a box or pouch of some sort, either a pencil case or closeable file or large pencil pouch - something cute to contain your kit contents. You could also use an Expandable file for your pouch. (I have seen 2 packs of these as well) . If you choose, you may create a handmade pouch, but please use the whole budget to then fill your handmade pouch. If you purchase your pouches, please use the remainder of your $10.00 budget. Now, When you get to your favorite dollar spot, you get to buy at least 8 different types of multi packs of different stationery items such as:
pens
pencils
note cards
paper clips
stickers
page flags
sticky notes
tape runners
glue sticks
tags
washi
colored binder refill paper
labels
mini-envies & coin envies
tiny paper bags
glitter glue
sequins/confetti
erasers
die cuts
reinforcements
bling (like mini tassels, charms and such)
Cute pencil sharpeners (I have seen 2 packs of piggies and owls!)
Decorative tacks
Decorative "list" magnets
Bakers twine
glue dots
mini note books
mini gelli pens
rubber stamps (some I have seen at Michael's and AC Moore are a buck and have 2 or 3 -sometimes even 4 stamps in 'em).
Anything stationery or pen pal related goes and items do NOT have to coordinate. You may take envelope multi packs, matching envelope/stationery kits, paper packs, file folders, larger list pads or memo pads and split one pk between the 2 kits, but no more than one of that type of package divide. (Example- This means you cant buy 2 packages of different designed note cards -, divide them both, and then count them BOTH as one item each.) Also, if you plan on sending paper, please send FLAT, so your box/pouch must be large enough to contain the size paper you choose. Please keep in mind - everything for your kits need to fit in the pouches!) Now, when you get home with your loot, sit down and divide up all the multi packs between your 2 partners. Split them as evenly as possible, so that every bit of what you bought goes into your kits. When they are packed up, there should be at least 8 different types of items within the pouch. You can feel free to add more to your kits, but that is completely up to you. Don't forget to put a little note inside and include the swap name and your swap-bot id so you get properly rated. Maybe even include an address label or 2 if you want to, but that is NOT a requirement. Please also repackage small items such as stickers/labels, clips or multiple erasers so they are not floating around loose in the pouch and potentially causing damage in shipping. Make sure all your items get packed nicely in your pouch and then mail it securely and on time, please.
When you get your swaps in the mail, please rate promptly, and give a 5 if the swap meets the requirements. If you like to Instagram, post your outgoing and incoming kits with the hashtag #heresmypenpalkit.
Need some inspiration? Here is a cool blog post you can read and this is just a little pen pal kit video that will give you some cute repackaging ideas.
LET'S DO THIS! <3

I'm so confused but really want to understand because this sounds like fun!

If each of your partners receives eight different items then everything I buy needs to be split? so if I buy washi, I split the roll between two partners? The same with sticker sheets? If I buy two different sticker sheets and divide each into two ... what does that count as?

pkpeace 07/20/2016 #

Does every item I purchase have to be a multipack? So no sticker sheets unless it has more than one sheet per package. I think I'm getting it. lol.

Hi @pkpeace Thanks for asking.. ill try and explain it as if I was making one up. I have 10 bucks total to spend. I take 2 of that and buy a box, pouch or pencil bag type container for each of my 2 partners. I now have 8 dollars to then buy multi-packs of stationery items that I will divide into each of the bags. so a say a 4 pack of sticky notes is one item, then each sack gets 2 of the pads. I also get a 5 pack of pens (one item) and a 7 pack of pencils(one item).. one sack gets 2 pens and 4 pencils, the other sack gets 3 pens and 3 pencils. Next item is a 12 pack of cute erasers - each sack gets 6. I also include, as one item, a 100 pack of paper clips - each sack gets 50. Also, those 2 items would also need to be re-packaged together and not floating loose. and lets say item number 6 I choose is a 2 pack of correction tape - 1 goes in each bag. Item 7 is a sticker pack with 6 sheets - three go in each sack and item 8 could be a memo pad with 80 sheets... I halve the pad and put 40 in each bag. Then I mail it off.

Now. you cannot repeat items, so dont buy 2 different memo pads and halve each of them and consider it 2 items, its still only 1 item, since each needs to be different. did that example help?

OH and yes, washi can be found in multipacks at my dollar tree, so I can give the whole rolls to partners, if you want to get one roll, it will usually tell you how long it is so you can figure out how much you need and measure it out as you wrap your washi for one partner, but leave the other half on the roll for the other partner.

I use playing cards and I know their dimensions, so depending on which way i go, i know one revolution around the short side is 5 inches and one revolution around the long side is 7 inches. So, then knowing if my roll is 6 feet long, ill need about 36 inches of washi and will go around as many revolutions on the card as it takes to reach 36 (short side would be about 6 and a half revolutions and long side would be about 5 and a half).

Did that clarify or confuse more? lol

pkpeace 07/21/2016 #

I got it, lol! I wish my Dollar Tree had multi packs of washi and stickers! well, some stickers have multiple sheets... anyway, thank you for clarifying! Sounds like fun!

My kits are going to be suspiciously generous because .25 clearance bin at Michael's. I did the math, though! :)

I don't know if anyone will read this, but I was affected by the flooding in Louisiana so I think my second package is gone due to my post office being under water. How should I rate my partner?
