Description:

Have you ever found a message in a bottle on the shore? Now you can find one in your mailbox! (Do you hear a certain Police song playing in your head?)

  • Each participant will send a "Message in a Bottle" Naked to one partner.

  • You must send a letter inside of the bottle with a treat. Whatever you can fit into your bottle.

  • I suggest looking at your partner's profile when deciding what to send inside of the bottle.

  • Be creative when choosing what type of bottle to send.

  • Also you can put a label on the bottle for the shipping information or you can hang a tag from the bottle.

How exciting to get an unusual treat in your mailbox!

Rate when you receive! This is a requirement! And a heart would be a nice gesture if the swap requirements have been met, don't be a heartbreaker! ;)

For this swap you must not have any recent or unexplained 1's or 3's. I will be checking profiles to make sure you are a member in good standing and that you are not a flaker. You must be rated at least a 4.5 overall. (Things go missing and some swappers are not benevolent) I always take pics of my swaps and keep the tracking receipt for proof of sending as well. If you are going to send late because of a major issue, please let your swap partner know, communication is the key. But, don't sign up if you think you will have an issue sending on time! You also have to have a fully filled out profile! Newbies are welcome as long as I have to scroll down to read your profile. If you have any color preferences, likes or dislikes, this is the place to let it be known. What are your favorite colors? Do you like a certain type of stickers? What do you collect that could easily be added to the swap? (Although it is senders choice, your partner will be looking to make you happy!)

  • Let me know if you have any issues, or if you've been flaked on, after enough time has passed to weed out problems with the mail. I will angel or arrange an angel.

Invite your friends! (I am trying encourage Naked Mail Swapping!) Let's see if we can have a good swap!

If you are really worried about being denied to send at the post office counter, make sure it is under 13 oz., find the correct postage amount at www.usps.com, and drop it in a box.

No Flakers Please!

What size bottle? Decorated outside or not?

thebragal 06/22/2016 #

I'm sorry to say this but Swap-Bot rules prohibit you from telling swappers when hearts are required. You can suggest what might deserve a heart but not require them.

A newbie friendly type 3? This swap is a great idea, but someone is bound to get flaked on. ):

skinny52 06/22/2016 #

Could this be a plastic bottle? Thanks

Minerva62 06/24/2016 #

The bottle should be plastic because you don't want it to break. I hope no one gets flaked on! Is that a common thing with a Type 3? Am I too optimistic?

Minerva62 06/24/2016 #

@thebragal , I changed the wording of the heart "requirement". I have noticed that a lot of swappers withhold hearts no matter what you do to make them smile. I will never "require" a heart in the future. Thank you for pointing out my mistake. (This is my 2nd public swap.)

I'm not restricting the size of the bottle. You can decorate it if you want, or you can let what you put inside be the decoration. Good questions, @HeideC

Could you send me an email after this swap is over to let me know if any participants had trouble mailing their bottle? I would love to receive a bottle in the mail, but just knowing the trouble I have sending cards and boxes from my PO, I know I would have trouble sending a bottle. I have tossed bottles in the ocean with a nice note but alas, have never gotten a response.

Minerva62 06/27/2016 #

@Momskii Of course I can send you an email. My postal workers are so cool! I have no trouble sending anything. Receiving isn't an issue either, I have a mailbox at my house.

Minerva62 07/15/2016 #

I just sent mine out today. It cost just over $3 to send and my postal worker Kara was so cool about sending. She even caught a mistake on my address! I can't wait to receive my "Message in a Bottle"!

My partner's bottle was returned to me today. It seems I had a brain bubble and put TX (my state) instead of TN (her state). So very sorry.
