Description:

INTERNATIONAL.

This is a challenge for dotee doll makers who dabble in a lot of crafts:

How handmade can you make your doll?

Your dotee doll must have at least one "from scratch" component, though the challenge is to make the doll as much from scratch as possible. Include a note telling your partner which component(s) you made from scratch.

Examples of a "from scratch" component: make the fabric for the front by knitting, weaving, or crocheting; dye or fabric paint plain cloth for the front; make beads from polymer clay or paper coated with UTEE or glaze; make charms from shrink plastic or polymer clay; use handspun wool for hair; knit and felt the back yourself.

I'm sure people will come up with a lot more ideas too; feel free to post them in the comments.

Definition of a dotee doll for the purposes of this swap:

  • The doll must have a fabric front, a felt back, and a felt face that is sewn on. For the purposes of this swap, the face can be emboidered or painted.

  • The doll must be between 3 inches and 5 inches in length.

  • The doll must have a hanger and a tail.

Participant requirements:

  • Minimum 4.8 rating.

  • At least one 5 rating on a dotee doll swap.

  • Sorry, no new swappers this time.

  • I will ban at my discretion.

Swap requirements:

  • One dotee doll with at least one "from scratch" component.

  • One note about what you made on the doll.

If you receive the above from your partner, you will rate them a "5". Whether or not you give a heart is entirely up to you.

Late swapping: Please do not be late sending out. If you absolutely must be late (because bad things do happen), please PM both myself and your partner. I don't want to have to chase people down to see if they are flaking or just late. I will angel this swap if I need to - please don't make me have to!

If you have any questions, please PM me. As needed, I will re-post any questions and my answers here in the comments section in case other people are wondering the same thing.

This is a great idea! Wish I could play. I'd love to see another in the future! :)

Aw, while I was reading this I thought... hey, I could make the dotee like a pinata, but then I read the part about it being fabric, and there goes my bubble!

:(

can someone please pm me and tell me what a dottie doll is and how to make one? I see these swaps all the time and am quite curious!

kgeslab 10/ 9/2008 #

and how is a dottie different from a blythe, whatever that is? Thanks again!

Sorry, San, but I did want to make sure the name "dotee doll" keeps a somewhat standard meaning.

kgeslab: I'll PM you.
