Description:

If you're a GeoCacher, this swap is for you! If you're not a GeoCacher, you won't be able to complete this swap without the help of a GeoCacher!

In addition to paper crafts and my new forays into my planner and pocket letters I love to be outdoors. While I can just hike all day with or without someone else, my very favorite outdoor activity is GeoCaching - which is huge where I live. This is a swap for those of us who love both swaps and caches.

This swap is intensive and will require several steps on both ends so I am only allowing swappers with a 5 (unless you have a good reason, just pm me, I'm easy). You must also send me your GeoCaching username by Dec 1 so that I can check your profile there to make sure you are active on the site!

Here's how this works:

  1. Create a cache for your partner. It must be at least a small size (no film canisters or other micros!) and able to withstand the elements. My personal favorites are lock-n-lock containers. Use a container you'd be happy to find!

  2. The cache you make must contain the following:

    • log book (small notebook or handmade if the spirit moves you) in a ziplock
    • 2 writing utensils in the logbook ziplock (you can mix and match or have it be the same: mechanical pencils, gel pens (regular pens freeze and get messy), traditional pencils (if you use a traditional pencil please include a sharpener!)
    • Swag! Please include at least 10 items, all of which are acceptable according to GeoCaching rules (no food, nothing political, blah blah blah).
    • The catch? Include ONE THING your partner will particularly like (use your partner's profile to figure it out). It could be that the writing utensil is your partner's favorite color, something reading related like a bookmark for a bookworm, etc.
  3. When you receive the cache you have two weeks to hide it locally and list it to www.geocaching.com. You must thank the swapper/geocacher who sent it to you IN THE CACHE DESCRIPTION USING YOUR PARNTER'S GEOCACHING NAME.

  4. Post a link to the cache page in the comments

  5. To get a five you must both send a cache that meets requirements and send proof of the final cache to your partner so that they can rate you.

I know this sounds like a pain in the neck or that I'm being crazy but imagine how cool it will be to put together a cache for someone and see it hidden somewhere else in the world. Yes, this is an international swap! I am also going to post a US only because I know that international shipping is sometimes an obstacle.

Get a container, fill it up, send it out. Receive a container, hide it, post it on the site.

See you on the trail!

Okay, I'm an idiot... just a head's up that obvi you can't get rated for HIDING the cache because you're hiding the cache of the person who sent to you and they don't rate you, haha. But you should still hide your received caches and send the info to your partner. I've only received one of my caches and can't hide it yet due to the ice and snow that decided to pummel us after weeks of 60+ degree weather (which is unseasonably warm where I live).
