Have you ever read a book you thought the whole world should read? Or have come across a book you were sure you should warn all readers about? Now is your chance to let everybody know:

   Write your own book review!

For this swap you will make and write an 8-page Zine about a book you have read recently or long ago. Write a summary or a good/bad critic, something about the author or about the persons in the book. Or write an advertisement Zine for this book. There is no limit, even the content recounted as a comic strip could be done.

This swap is international, the Zine does not have to be in English but surely can be, your partners should be able to read it. Please create your Zine following this folding rule:

You should have a rating no lower than 4.7 and you should not have had 1´s and/or late sends within the last 3 month. Newbies are welcome to join if they have a filled out profile and contact me first. You will have 4 partners, which means: please make 4 copies of your Zine, send one to each partner and receive 4 different Zines in return.

Please do not sign up if you have no intention on sending.

Would it be ok to put a different book on each page? Or does the zine have to be about one book only? Either way it could be interesting, maybe talking about different characters on each page, etc. but I thought maybe the idea of 8 books in one zine was also cool.

I have the same question.

I think thats ok as long as you have room on one page to give enough information about that book. Your reader should be able to get a little insight about the book you have read.

I have never made a zine before, but I love books, so this really interests me. However, I have a question about the physical zine - why does it have to be folded like in the video? Why cannot it not be a couple of pages folded in half and stapled together in booklet form? Also, as far as content goes, can it have about a two page review and then the other pages be about non-book things that relate to the topic of the book - like maybe some poems or factoids?

I don't mind a stapled zine, I just had postage in my mind because this is an international swap. The folded zine like in the video is made from one page only, which means it should be the lowest postage fee. And it is challenging to fit all you need on those 8 tiny pages. Content is up to you, as long as your partner can have a little overview of the book/books you write about.

Thanks for answering my question. Your reason for the folded method makes sense.

Partners will be assigned on Monday, I hope everybody has fun creating their zines.
