Description:

Neil Gaiman's imagery can be perfectly ... creepy. Coraline's Other Mother still gives me the heebie-jeebies. Brr!

We can also credit Neil Gaiman with All Hallow's Read -- the new tradition of a month of scary reading and giving scary books away on Halloween.

So, Neil Gaiman sourced material as a stepping-off point for All Hallow's Mail -- would you be inspired, too?

One mail artstravaganza inspired by Neil Gaiman's writing for one partner in celebration of October. Any form or combination of zine, ATC, minibook, postal art, naked mail button eyeballs (aaah!), mail art wearables, or anything else that falls under our group motto of zine, mail art or cool stuff is acceptable.

**Since this ended up as a 2-person swap, the two people involved reserve the right to obsess over Anansi Boys if they so desire. Or possibly other Neil Gaiman material **

I am extending time in order to allow us to do some reading before creating. If you want to do the read-along thing, indicate below what book and when you plan to start and we can support each other with a book shout-out.

I will Other Mother any unsent swaps, so please communicate. Ergh.

I am planning on reading Anansi Boys, in the American Gods realm.

The Sleeper and the Spindle is out September 22 in the US (out nearly a year in the UK) if you are more Sleeping Beauty inclined.

Other possible reads include of course Coraline (the graphic novel version is the ((ulp)) source of my Other Mother fears), The Graveyard Book, Good Omens (Terry Pratchett fans rejoice!), Neverwhere, The Sandman (comic series), and Stardust.

I read the title of this swap and guessed it would be you who created it!!! It's interesting!!

Aw, thanks, BetsyPreston! Which reminds me, I owe you a good typewritten letter!

Anyone able to tell me what this means? No time to trawl through boards atm. Thanks!

I am not sure that this is an official "thing" -- a read a long is when everyone reads the same book. I anticipate that it may be difficult to pick one single book, but that if multiple people were reading books, we could support each other by sending little messages. Something on the order of "Hey, I'm on page 46 of Coraline and it is CREEPY. How's Anansi Boys? Are you getting into it yet?"

I will probably also reread Anansi Boys since it's on my list anyway, but I still need to read The Ocean at the End of the Lane...

Thanks for The Ocean at the End of the Lane reminder, Iowa Buddy! I have yet to read both of your picks. I'm very excited about Anansi Boys.
