Description:

So, a month ago, if you asked me about Bister & Brusho, my reply would have been, "oh, isn't that the new law firm on Main Street, between the library & the courthouse? Do they do family law or criminal?"

But now, thanks to the internets, I know that both are brand names of water soluble powdered pigments that the all-grown-up artists use to make really cool backgrounds on paper., and that there is even another one, called Color Burst.

I got some Bister, and have been playing with it a bit, and hope that some other Dragonettes would like to play along...

For this swap, you will get some Bister (made in The Netherlands) and/or Brusho (made in the UK) and/or Color Burst (made in the US) powders, and create a background which you can then embellish however you like, and then make into a card or ATC or bookmark or other paper goodie for your partner...

Some backgrounds are made by sprinkling the powder onto a wet paper surface, others are made by sprinkling powder, then spraying with water.

Some folks even mix them up with water and paint with them--however, for this swap, you should use them as powder for your background, but you may paint over the background for the embellishing.

In the US, you can order Bister from I Brake For Stamps. You can get Brusho from Dick Blick and other online shops, and Color Burst is available from Amazon and several other sellers...

SplitCoastStampers has a recent tutorial on using these powders: click here

If you are unable to obtain the powders, I will be happy to mail you a quarter teaspoon or so of 2 different colors, please PM me as soon as you sign up if you want me to mail them to you.

There is a long time between sign up and sending the swap, in case I need to mail powder to folks outside the US, and so people have plenty of time to experiment and find what results are most pleasing.

Dang it Kathy! I heard about Color Burst a couple of months ago. But I was determined to resist. But I want to join this swap. So I just ordered some Bister and if it comes in time I will sign up! :)

Thanks! I've signed up and am looking at my stamps and planning . . . I imagine I will get my supplies in plenty of time but I'm glad to have a back up plan. :)

Re: Water soluble powdered pigments USA has versions of these - Jacquard Co., including glittery & sparkle powdered pigments in jars, little bottles. Just thought I'd mention here.
