Canada and the USA only!

You will be sending 3 FQs to 2 partners. The fabric you choose MUST be good quality cotton quilting fabric. No cheapie stuff from Walmart, OK? The goal of this is to be able to co-ordinate the fabrics for a project of some kind. So choosing 2 nice elegant prints and 1 crazy Christmas cartoon print probably won't work!!

All fabric at Wal-mart is not cheap. It is the only place in our town to buy fabric, so guess I won't join

Mat I agree not all walmart fabric is cheap... They have nice quilting fabrics. Some of it is the same fabrics you can buy from JoAnn's or Hancock fabrics. But for less money. I use a lot of Walmart Fabrics. I really think she ment none of the 1.00 bargain fabric that you can see through. It should be a good thread count :) Come join in it will be fun... I would love having you as a partner :)

Thanks AuntPittyPat. I would love to swap with you also. Will join and see what happens. We are now in hurricane prep and expect rain and winds tonight, tomorrow, and Wednesday, but we are ready.

Would love to join but am in Aust. Still, love hearing 'bout it and learning from you ladies. Mat - good luck with the hurricane, hope all goes well. Will not feel bad about our rain ever again.:)

I mostly buy quilt shop fabric but many times you can buy great quality jo-anne fabric and Walmart. Just have to look for the quality.

I go to a quilting group and we hear all the time QUILT SHOP QUALITY -- well sorry, me and my $100 sewing machine like to quilt. Sometimes the less quality stuff shrinks more, but if you check and it is quilting fabric on the bolt it is usually fine.

I for one applaud the "no wal-mart cheapie stuff" rule. Thread count is key. If the fabric has a nice "hand" - ie isn't stiff, rough, or otherwise unpleasant to touch, it generally has a quilt shop quality thread count, whether it comes from Walmart or Joanns. However, both those places do have more un-quiltshop quality stuff than quiltshop quality stuff. Choosing wisely is key.
