Description:

My mountain of prints grows ever higher, and I'm guessing it's the same for all of you! It would be a shame to let them languish, so let's keep the momentum going and swap another project made from our prints.

It's been a long, rough winter for many of us, and I am SO ready for warm weather! So, for this swap, we'll be using our prints to create a handmade Spring-themed notecard with a coordinating envelope.

The print can be the notecard's background, main image, or used in any other way you see fit as long as you somehow use a print on the card and incorporate a Spring theme. You can use any type of paper to create your prints, including copy paper, cardstock, deli paper, book pages, etc. Feel free to be as creative as you want, adding stamped images, embellishments, or whatever else you're inspired to use. For the Spring aspect, think bright or pastel colors, flowers, sunshine, etc. Use your imagination and interpret the Spring theme as you see fit, just be sure it's fairly obvious that your card is relating to Spring. This is not to be an Easter card, but rather a celebration of the return of Spring.

You may add a sentiment referring to Spring in some way if you wish, but it's not necessary. Write a little note to your partner inside the card; these cards are not to be sent blank for your partner to use, but rather a way for you to say hello and spread some monoprint love!

The envelope can be handmade from a coordinating print (same colors and/or design) or store bought. It does not have to match exactly, but does need to coordinate in some way, for instance by using the same color(s) that are in your card, or maybe a matching stamped image. As long as it somehow ties in with your card's design, it's fine. If you hand make your envelope, please make it sturdy to withstand postal abuse, by either gluing a sheet of paper to the print as an envelope liner, or by adding tape on the inner or outer folds.

The details:

  • 1 handmade Spring-themed notecard with a coordinating envelope for 1 partner
  • Minimum card size is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"; the fold can be on either the short or long side, sender's choice

The swap graphic is from our own @dobie256 's Flickr. Click the link to check out the full photo which includes a cute bunny card. I felt I should crop the bunny card out only because I didn't want to confuse anyone about the swap's theme.

I plan to continue hosting swaps where we use our prints in various projects, but they will no longer fall under the "Use Your Prints" series. Since we'll be mostly swapping projects and only sometimes swapping prints, I felt it wasn't necessary to keep these swaps under that swap name and restriction, so to speak.
