Description:

This is an International swap, if you are unable or unwilling to send overseas then please do not join!

I have just encountered handmade envelopes and I'm loving them, so I have created this swap to encourage others to spread the love of them. This swap is aimed at beginners like myself, however experienced envelope makers are more than welcome to join, just remember you may receive someone's first ever handmade envelope in return.

For this swap you will have 1 partner, you will make them 3 handmade envelopes, however you will use one of those envelopes to mail the other two envelopes to them. So in other words two envelopes will remain blank for your partner to use in the future, and the third you will use to mail to your partner. Don't forget to include space for your partner to add addresses when they use them.

Envelopes can be made by various methods, by using card, paper, magazine pages, collage, hand drawn, paint, rubber stamping etc. please just make sure your envelope is sturdy enough to travel through the mail system (that includes the 2 your partner will use in future).

Please put effort into your envelopes, think colours & layers, stickers are not acceptable decoration. Minimum size of finished envelope should be 5.5x4.5 inches.

Search the web for ideas if you need inspiration. I will add a photo of the simplest way I have found to make the envelope shape, however I'm sure you can find tutorials online if needed.

Summary - Make your partner 3 handmade envelopes, 2 of which must remain blank for your partner to use in future. Min size 5.5" x 4.5". No boring envelopes.

Any questions please ask below before the swap starts!

I reserve the right to remove anyone I don't feel comfortable about from the swap before assigning partners. No unexplained 1s or 3s. If you feel you have previously been rated unfairly please contact me immediately upon joining otherwise I will remove you without correspondence.

Cut less off for bigger envelopes :)

I've made envelopes before but rather than decorating the paper, I use paper that is already decorative. Is that acceptable for your swap? I sometimes use large children's story books and use one page for an envelope and another to decorate a letter set or card to put in the envelope. pm me if you'd like a photo so you can make a judgement that what I do would be Ok for your swap.

That would be fine so long as there is a little something else added to it such as rubbing stamping, collage or drawing/painting, in other words don't just fold up a decorative piece of paper and call it done. Hope that makes sense.

I am just waiting to hear back from two swappers I wanted to check on before I assign partners. Therefore partners will be assigned as soon as possible. Looks like we have a great group of swappers :)
