Description:

Hello everyone! This is my first swap as coordinator. I've been a member since March of 2009. I love to receive smash book items so for this swap, we will send items that can be used for our smashbook/junkjournal. This would cost $1.10 to send international. Keep contents flat and don't go over an ounce. Minimum of six items. This can be:

  • washi tape samples: you can stick these on wax paper or sticker sheets sans stickers (I usually save mine). Minimum of six inches to count as 1

  • journal prompts - from magazine cutouts, your stash, stamped images, printed out words, make your own

  • memos - blank memo sheets, more than the usual post it notes, stamped images,

  • envelopes - to keep tags/tickets etc, packets or sleeves

  • tabs - i love these - thay could be die cuts, handmade, those square things from teabags, i've seen a lot of creative recycled ones.

  • tags - from your stash, die cuts, more than usual clothing tags, handmade

  • Others - stickers(10 small stickers will count as one, 5 for bigger stickers) die cuts (hearts, flowers, shapes, frames), postage stamps (at least 3) cutouts or stamp images of arrows numbers, letters, calendar, days, years; vintage photos, ephemera etc., flowers (nothing bulky). ribbons -lay them flat/tape ends on cardstock.

Please leave comments for other great ideas. Please do a variety, no duplicates if possible. This is sender's choice. You can look at your partner's profiles if you prefer. I want to welcome newbies with well-filled profiles and at least five successful swaps via snailmail. This should be easy, but i will angel if I have to. Thanks!

When you mention "envelopes' can they be the tiny mini envies/glassine envies?

Rita 04/20/2013 #

yes, that is what i meant. Smaller envies to fit tickets, photos, tags..etc.

@Rita thank you.

"keep it less than an ounce"...so that's the secret, lol. I just sent an envelope of smash/junk book stuff to Sweden and it cost me almost $10.00, OUCH!

Rita 04/20/2013 #

@HisChild I also spent a similar amount for smashbook stuff going to Singapore, and had to fill up the customs form. We keep mailing expenses to a minimum by just sending flat quality paper items, and make sure weight is 1oz and under (I usually am able to put in 8-10 flat items). I use my food scale to check on weight or I go to post office to check for weight before I seal it. (I use two 33 cent postcard stamps and one 46 cent or forever stamp)

First-Class Mail® International Letter** Max. length 11-1/2", height 6-1/8" or thickness 1/4" 1oz $1.10, if up to 2 oz - it's $2.05.

I can never stop at just a few items in an envelope! I am just getting into smashing! and am already addicted!! Where has this been all my life?!

KristinCali 05/ 3/2013 #

@MrSchiEvous said it right! Every time I join a smashing swap it turns into a huge fat envelope bursting at the seems that costs more than I thought! I just keep thinking of more itmes to add haha. Not saying that's a bad thing. Just that I'm addicted, for sure.

JavaJunkie 05/ 5/2013 #

@MrSchiEvous and @KristinCali I am the exact same way!!!

This is going to be my first swap and I'm so excited! I'm absolutely addicted to smashing and I'm excited to send out the various ephemera I have laying around!
