Description:

This is an e-mail swap for all those who love languages!
The aim is to collect words and phrases from our native languages that do not have a direct equivalent in English. I keep this swap international so everyone can join, but of course, native English speakers might find it a bit tricky :-)

Requirements:

Send a list of 5 words and/or phrases from your native language (if it's English, then from a second language you know) that you think is untranslatable into English.

You will send to 5 partners.

For each word or phrase, add the following information: pronunciation (you may use IPA if you know it, or just try to represent the pronunciation with English spelling) and meaning. You can add some extra information, like context in which it is used, an example sentence with an English translation, etymology, etc.

The task of looking up the words you can use may take some time, so please, start assembling the swap when you join, not only after the partners are assigned.

Participation No unexplained 1s or 3s in the last 6 months. Newbies welcome with well-filled profiles. I reserve the right to ban any suspicious swappers at my own discretion.

Are you a language lover?
Then you might want to check out my new group, Translators United. Feel free to join!
You don't have to be a member of this group to participate in this swap :)
