Description:

You will cut out words from magazines, brochures, junk mail, etc. that describe you and glue them to the outside of your mailing envelope. You could use descriptive words, phrases you like, words about food, books, colors, crafts, etc. As you start leafing through, I'm sure you'll see all sorts of good words that describe who you are and what you like.

You must cover essentially the whole front side of the envelope (back side is optional). You never know though, once you start looking through magazines, you might find a lot of words and want to spill over to the back side of the envelope.

Please use a good quality adhesive so your words stay on during their journey through the postal system.

Put a notecard inside that you write a little something on รขโ‚ฌโ€œ about you, your day, etc. This will help the envelope stay sturdy for mailing.

Have fun telling your partner about you in "words!"

@ArtyBeth3 ...do you have any recommendations on good adhesives to survive the mail process??...I get envelopes that are tore up that have nothing on them.

I've had good luck with glue sticks. Personally I get my glue sticks from Europe (Pritt glue - it's really sticky and my all-time favorite). However, I've used Scotch brand, and UHU brand and they seem to work fine. I'd probably stay away from "cheap stores" glue sticks.

When in doubt, you could always cover your envelope with clear packing tape; that would surely hold the words on.

Just to mention that the post office frowns on having the whole front covered with clear packing tape due to postmarks made on stamps and those small lines in a row printed on the bottom of some envelopes.

Wallpaper glue in tubes works well. Scotch brand permanent glue sticks are the best I have found. Can you use some Sticker sheet ABC letters to spell out some of the words????

@DixieDiane thanks for the postal information about using clear packing tape.

Sorry, stickers isn't the intent for this swap. Check your local thrift stores or library; they may have inexpensive magazines.

I have been using Elmer's School Glue Sticks- You know the ones with Purple glue that turns clear as it dries... :D haven't had a Problem with them....

Just thought I would ask before I used sticker letters-not a problem. Me without magazines? NEVER LOL We are a magazine family here-We get like over 20 different types of magazines in the mail each month. I too use Elmer's school glue sticks but as long as what you need to stick has no depth (sp?) to it-I use that for any thin paper that I need stuck. Thicker paper glued to an envie going thru our mail system using that glue might not make it so good seeing just reg envies get damaged.
