Description:

This is the International version of brokenfaedoll's swap(that swap was cancelled).

This swap is a long-term journalling project. Since it is Intl, if shipping is a concern, please do not join.

Just about the same rules apply:

  1. You MUST have at least 25 hearts, no more than one no-send, no less than a 4.9 rating by the time sign-up ends.

  2. You MUST be willing to commit to this project 110%.

  3. You MUST put forth your best effort.

Here is what you will be doing:

  1. Purchase a journal, composition book or any book that has a solid, sewn binding. No spiral notebooks or cheaply glued pages. Handmade books are OK, but must contain a minimum of 100 pages and be around a 5"X7" size. I have made one for geocaching and it has been in circulation as a Travel Bug for two years and is now in Iraq, so if you do quality work it will last a long time. There are many intructions to be found on the internet. NO GLUED BINDINGS!

  2. Fill this book with journal entries about you and the life you live and the world as you see it. You may include your creativity with art, photos, news clippings, ticket stubs, a favorite recipe or poem; it's up to you. This is about YOU, not what is in your partners profile, likes and dislikes. Decorating the cover is optional, but makes it special to you.

Make entries everyday, once a week, or whenever something worth jotting down strikes. Whether it takes you one month or the full six, the goal is to fill the book with your life happenings, thoughts and creativity.

  3. When it comes time to rate, base it on receiving a filled book, not on your own tastes or views.

When this swap is in full swing, I will be sending out a reminder once a month until the end. Hopefully, they won't need to be nudges to get your journals off the back burner, but helpful if life got a bit busy and they do.

This is my first time hosting a swap, so this description is subject to fine tuning!

I love this and will think about joining. Great Idea vee*

MsCraftALot 02/22/2008 #

Can it be a little smaller than 6x9 inches? :)

bren 02/23/2008 #

Yes, the 6X9 is just a guide for the handmade books. Some people make very small books with just enough room for a few sentences. A little smaller is fine. I will change the description to 5X7.

if i have enough hearts by than iwill sign up V*

vee41dmb 03/ 3/2008 #

I am signing up, but please don't kick me out yet. I am sure I'll have enough by the time june comes around. i just mailed about 15 packages out. I really like this idea. if you need to boot me please PM me first. thanks V*

and i LOVE that it is international!

PurpleSheep 03/ 4/2008 #

Oh, I love this idea! I don't have enough hearts have but signed up anyway in hopes of having acquired enough by the end of the sign-up period. :) * sifts through stash of blank books and decides which sewn one to use*

vee41dmb 03/ 4/2008 #

i bought my journaling book today!

bren 03/ 6/2008 #

Yes, please do sign up. I won't be banning anyone(unless there is a notorious flaker) and checking profile ratings until it's time for partner assignments. There's still a few months to get the ratings needed.

vee41dmb 03/18/2008 #

please dont cancel i have started mine already Vee*

bren 03/19/2008 #

Oh no, I won't cancel. It was the original US version that was cancelled. I was in that one too :(

anwyn 04/ 7/2008 #

i'm going to join i love the idea of this swap and hope to achieve the 25 hearts by june!

BluEyedPenny 04/21/2008 #

I will join as well even though I don't have enough hearts, YET! :) If by then I don't have enough I will not participate. This swap sounds wonderful, I love the idea of long term and getting to know someone by reading their daily lives.

anwyn 05/15/2008 #

YES just reached the min heart level so now no worries on being kicked from the swap cans start things about my journal and it's contents!

Godsrockangel 06/ 2/2008 #

Issues! I'm 7 hearts short and unless I do something mad there is no way i can get those in 3 days!

Can you let me know if you do another one down the road somewhere - hopefully I'll have enough then. I might start collecting bits now so that it's like super packed when i come round to doing the full run.

CrayonMom 06/ 3/2008 #

Me, too--- Would love to participate, but I haven't had any swaps yet. If you redo this in the future, please let me know.

breccamerie 06/ 4/2008 #

I've joined, but the only problem that I may see here is that once we get our partner's journal and read it that may be the end of the game for the little book so I purpose that we then have another swap further down the line to re-swap our partner's journals again to someone else in a new journal swap. Maybe we could add our comments in the journal as we read them ect. just to show we've read or enjoyed or even our thoughts on the subjects. I think that way more than one person could enjoy the journal and would make for an easy swap later. This would also allow other people to join with their journals as well. What do you all think?

bren 06/ 5/2008 #

Last day to sign up or drop out if you feel you cannot meet the requirements. As soon as sign-ups are over, I will be checking everyones profile to make sure all the requirements are met.

breccamerie- good ideas, but this swap is for the journal writer, not how many people get to read it. To some it is therapy, getting feelings out and on paper. To others it is just a creative process to exercise their writing and thoughts. These journals are not intended to be passed around.

If I host another long term journal swap, I will send a message to those whom have shown interest here.
