Description:

I saw @Mamabemus hosting a USA recipe swap on the public boards and I thought it would be quite cool to have a British one.

You will have 3 partners and send them 12 recipes each, one for each category as listed below. They can be handwritten on recipe cards (handmade or otherwise), cut out of magazines, photocopied from books or printed recipe cards (like the ones you get from supermarkets). Or neatly typed is acceptable too. Whatever format you choose, make them nice and neat :)

The recipes should ideally all be ones you've tried (either cooked yourself or at least eaten when someone else has cooked it) but if there are one or two you have got from your "must try this" stash that's okay. But the idea isn't to go to the internet and find the first thing you can - try and find something nice for your partner!

You must send one of each of the following...

  1. A recipe with cheese in
  2. Something you bake in the oven
  3. Something that uses leftovers
  4. Something with chocolate in
  5. Something that you can prepare most of it in advance
  6. A drink recipe
  7. A recipe that has gone disastrously wrong in the past
  8. A classic British dish
  9. Something that starts with the same letter that your partner's name does
  10. Something with fruit in
  11. One of your favourite recipes
  12. Partner's choice recipe - everyone should post below in the comments a particular requirement they want for this one (e.g. vegan recipe, something to serve at a dinner party)

You must also include a letter explaining which recipe is for which category, why you picked that recipe and what you liked/didn't like about it (if you've tried it) or what you like/don't like the look of about it (if you want to try it). And for #7 (and #12 if applicable) you must tell the story.

Summary

  • 12 recipes, one for each category. If you have a recipe that fits more than one category you must pick which one it is and supply another recipe for the other category.
  • Also include a letter explaining choices.
  • Rating of 4.85 or higher
  • UK swap
  • If you have any recent 1s or 3s with no good explanation, or a lot of past 1s/3s, or any comments/ratings that make me feel nervous about your profile, I will remove you. I tend to be a cautious host because I don't want my swappers to get burned. If you are worried about your ratings/profile then send me a message beforehand.
  • I will angel for this swap.
  • Be careful if you've used a lot of card that your letter doesn't need a Large stamp. You don't want your partner to have to pay overdue postage!

For my "partner's choice" ones I'd like my partners to send me something I can make for lunch that's quick to prepare (but not a sandwich lol) but isn't super-unhealthy. I don't mind if it takes a while to cook (as long as it's not hours) but I don't want to spend twenty minutes chopping veg. Thanks! :)

hey, I would like a refreshing summer dish with no cheese.

I forgot i neede to say.....i only signed up @ 2mins to midnight, after much internal debate as to whether i should take on another swap...

Thanks for reminding me!!

We like trying new tastes and flavours, and eat most things, so really, anything goes. However, some ideas for recipes I'd especially enjoy trying out are: fish/ seafood, interesting bakesale items (kids are always fundraising for one thing or another, something unusual - so long as the ingredients arent too hard to come by (locally we have a chinese supermarket, polish delis and quite a well stocked world foods aisle in Tesco)

I'm looking forward to a month of new tastes - its easy to get in a rut when ur buying and cooking for a family.

For my partners choice recipe could I have something that could be made ahead for lunch and be taken with me to work, thanks.

Oh good choice, Deb. I used to have a bunch like that to take into uni with me. I'll have to dig them out! :)

I haven't forgotten about this - my printer ran outta ink and I'm waiting for replacements to arrive, so my 36 recipes are needing to be hand written with my dodgy not working hands.... I may subsitute some with "found" recipes. I know it says in the blurb that any format is acceptable - I just want you all to know that it is most definately NOT a case of me leaving it until the last minute and then cramming a bunch of supermarket cards into envies!! - you're recipes were all selected ages ago - it's just the putting together that is taking too long!!
