i should mention that you really want to cater the journal/notebook to your partner, make it FOR them (did that make sense?) i'll be sending out e-mails with ideas and how-to's once partners are assigned in case you get stuck. but look at your partners profile and try to personalize it. and keep checking the flikr for ideas and inspiration too!

Hi! Can you explain what a composition book is? Do you mean like a lined school exercise book?? We have different names for things here in New Zealand, it can get a bit confusing!!!

and it just has lined paper inside.

I love journal.. I hope this went well for us.. blu3. I'm a bit disappointed with the previous journal swap we're in. I don't know if i'm going to get one for that.

Here's a great idea for a journal "base" to alter. Go to your local print shop and see if they have any old or extra paper sample books. Specifically the ones with wir-o bindings. The best are from companies like Sundance, Mohawk, International Paper...too many to list here. They are so much fun because they have funky cuts on the pages, many are embellished with colorful art already, often there are tabs cut into the sections. If you think you will alter a lot of these types, you can go any big paper distributor (maybe even on-line) and request some sample books. But the best place to start is your local copy shop. Try it - you'll get hooked!

augustmoon- thanks for that tip!!! i've also been picking up magazines on altered books/journals and book binding (for those brave enough to make their own journal) which i'll scan pages from and add to the flickr page.
