Swap description

What are the images which stick in your memory from the tale of Beauty and the Beast?
Do you ever wonder how the story might read if told from a different perspective, or with a different ending?

For this swap, Beauty and the Beast is your source of inspiration, and you will create for each of your partners any ONE of the following:

  • a handmade postcard
  • 2 ATCs
  • a mini-zine
  • a story or other piece of prose
  • a handcrafted 'artefact' based on the tale (see Swap requirements below for suggestions)

How you interpret the story is entirely up to you, and - like the original fairy tales - can be as dark as you like. You could illustrate scenes from the traditional tale, re-write as a comic strip, re-tell the story as it might have been in an alternative period or context, or re-imagine in any other way that inspires you.

Swap requirements

  • No recent/unexplained 1 or 3 ratings, and no late swaps on dashboard as of sign-up date.
  • 2 partners = 2 Beauty & Beast items sent & 2 Beauty & Beast items received (see Swap description above for notes on what constitutes a single item)
  • Handmade postcards and ATCs may be made using any digital, hand-drawn, hand-painted or hand-crafted media but NO sticker-slapping!
  • A standard mini-zine template is available here but any alternative format/layout/binding of equivalent content length is fine. Content may be hand-drawn/handwritten/typed/word-processed/cut-paste-&-photocopied, as preferred.
  • Stories/prose should be min. 500 words, and typed/word-processed/legibly hand-written.
  • Other 'artefact' could be anything from a mini stuffie of the Beast, to a hand-felted rose, or a set of commemorative faux postage – whatever suits your own set of skills. Include a product label or note to explain the relevance/provenance of your item.
  • Send on time!
