Description:

For this swap you will make a postcard out of one side of a tea box and send it to your partner naked (stamped and not in an envelope) through the mail.

Use whatever side you would like, front, back, etc. Just so long as it seems large enough to make smallish postcard.

On the back write a message to your partner about how you enjoyed the tea that the box came from, what kind of teas you like, what sort of rituals you have surrounding tea...anything tea related. Make sure to write your swap bot user name and swap name along the bottom of the postcard so your partner knows who its from!

The card doesn't need to be fancy at all...just one side cut out of a tea box. I am making this swap after Christmas to reduce the stress factor, and making the send date 2 weeks out from the start date, so if you get any Christmas teas you may have time to use them up. If your cardboard tea box has imagery or text printed on the inside of the box please paste some sort of paper over the back to give a legible surface to write on (and you could make this an artistic choice if you want to get really creative, like using a light colored map or scrapbooking paper is you want to make it look fancy, though this is certainly not required).

Great recycling idea!!

Thank you! I've never tried this before, but i noticed the sides of some of my tea boxes are exactly the same size as vintage post cards. Hopefully they will make it through the mail just fine, as i haven't had any trouble with vintage cards of the same size! I have tons of tea boxes, so if this swap works well and is popular enough i plan on continuing to host them .:)

the minimum requirements for a postcard according the USPS.com is 3.5 x 5 inches. hopefully i can find a box to make a postcard that size! :)

My tea boxes are smaller than the postal measurements so I plan to use a recycled greeting card as a 4 x 6" cardboard background.

I'm thinking of joining up due to the generous send date, would a postcard collage with the side of a tea box involved be acceptable? I want to get a bit more creative with it :-)

I just measured all the tea boxes I have. Most are only 3 inches by 5 inches. Most of the post cards I own are 4 x 6 inches. I am going to glue my tea box to card stock so it conforms to the standard postcard size.

Sure, that works. Despite the particular sizing requirements though, i have sent smaller things through my local post office...they have allowed me to do it, and they have arrived at their destinations, so i guess it just depends on how picky your local post office branch is about what they are willing to send.

Gluing/taping the tea box to a postcard is fine with me. So is collaging and other creative things like that. Anything above and beyond the requirements seems like a good thing to me, if you are willing to put in the time to do extra. :)

Thanks for the comments and questions guys.

Sorry about the delay guys. I work as a cook, and Christmas/New Years time is/was Hell. Still recovering from it!

Again, sorry about the delay!!
