Description:

I have hosted this swap before, and it was great fun. As autumn approaches, I always like to knit scarves in anticipation of the chill! For this swap, you will have one partner, and you will create one lovely scarf for them. You can knit, crochet, weave your piece, and it doesn't need to be an elaborate project, as long as it is made with love.

It is possible that not everyone will be at the same crafting level, so be open-minded, and enjoy!

All participants must have a 5 rating (sorry but I've decided to be strict about this on this go-round) and at least five type 3 (craft and package) swaps under their belt. I will be able to angel this swap, but trust I won't have to...

Leave a comment below with several choices of color, as well as any allergies (to wool and such) so your partner will have an idea of what to work with.

Please join the fun!

Would this kind of scarf be ok? http://dollarstorecrafts.com/2011/07/make-the-worlds-easiest-crocheted-scarf/

leahsimone 09/16/2011 #

Yes, that's cool-looking! And it is technically crocheted, with all those gazillions of chains. Now I want to make one of those!

zigg13pra 09/16/2011 #

I've always wanted to do a scarf swap. It's sad that with over 1000 5's, I still can't join.

beaglemom 09/16/2011 #

zigg13pra is a great swapper - I have had her as a partner in the past and she gives great packages.... Please consider her!

beaglemom 09/16/2011 #

I really like most things - I have no allergies and my favorite colors are Purple and green. My coat is tan so anything would go - I would be happy with whatever someone made for me!

I forgot to ask - does it matter what weight (Yarn) we make. Can it be a decorative scarf or are we making warm winter scarfs?

Zanara 09/16/2011 #

Hello, if you plan on having a Canada - Us swap I would love to join.

RadicalRecrafter 09/16/2011 #

Ooh! Have to join this one! I am personally very allergic to wool and other "animal" yarns (mohair, angora, cashmere, etc.) and look TERRIBLE in certain shades like mint green and orange! I DO lead a group of ladies who make hats and scarves to donate,though.So-if my partner would not mind if their scarf ended up being donated to a person in need, they can send whatever they wish and I will be happy!

zigg13pra 09/17/2011 #

I'll most likely be joining more towards the signup date. @beaglemom - hehe, thanks. @Swan - I've seen that scarf before too and think it would be fun to make!

institches 09/18/2011 #

I too have allergies to wool and other animal fibers. How would we make sure that we didn't get one of these? Watching. Have some other crochet projects I have to finish first.

leahsimone 09/19/2011 #

institches, when partners are assigned, your partner will come to check out your comment here and will avoid using animal fibers.

vibrantautumn 09/21/2011 #

I'm allergic to wool and other animal fibers. Favorite color PURPLE!!! Thanks for making it special.

cinderella730 09/22/2011 #

what a wonderful swap!!! I love anything purple and sparkly!!! ;o)

thatagirl 09/22/2011 #

No color preference or allergies here.

craftycrocheter 09/22/2011 #

Any color is fine, but please no wool it makes me itch.

MizzKodak 09/23/2011 #

I recently got flaked so this I'm hoping this swap goes much better :) love natural fibers and blends, my favorite colors are jewel tones. But I am allergic to Angora. No Red Heart yarn please.

leahsimone 09/23/2011 #

I will take all the greatest care to make sure no one gets flaked here, but as I said, if there is (boohoo) against all sense and reason some flaking, I will happily angel--I love to knit!

leahsimone 09/23/2011 #

Sorry guys but I've dialed back and reverted to a strict "5" only rating swap. I just feel better that way, for such a labor intensive swap, and one which I'm promising to angel. Thanks for understanding!

FickityTwists 09/24/2011 #

Just as a note: I am allergic to wool or wool/cotton blends. Please make anything for me out of synthetics or anything fluffy/soft. I love soft.

twobluecrows 09/25/2011 #

LOL--I'm so envious of all of you that can make scarves! I started one for my hubby when we lived in New Hampshire, with that lovely super softsoft nubby multi shade yarns, and here, ten years later I've finally finished it--and it's only about 2.5 feet long!! I don't crochet much faster, :(

blufairy19 09/27/2011 #

If anyone with a "lesser" rating would like to swap a scarf with me anyway, please pm me. I've got a 4.9 for a miscommunication that happened over a year ago and don't feel it's right to be banned for 1 (one) transgression.

pickapeppa 09/27/2011 #

This is going to be fun! I'm allergic to anything with wool or animal fibers in it and love all colors but yellows/beige etc. and love all styles of knit and crochet :) I can't wait to get started, thanks for hosting this!

KathyB 09/27/2011 #

Not allergic not anything and not picky on colors. Send me one in your favorite color!

leahsimone 09/27/2011 #

it's not a question of banning, blufairy, it is just my rating requirement and as such quite fair. Do feel free, anyone, to start a similar swap with any requirements you choose!

Jadeypop 09/28/2011 #

Yay! I've done a swap like this before and had fun. :) I'm not a picky person usually but Id love to wear the scarf to work in the morning when its going be the coldest but my work requires all black. Lol so whoever gets me, can you please make me a black one. I know its sounds boring but I'd love to get more wear than just on the weekends :)

summerhawk 09/29/2011 #

No allergies. Would love funky color(s) - red & purple, or avacado & tangerine (think 1970's kitchens), or hot pink & lime green, or some weird multicolored yarn (the kind you might find in a yard sale or Goodwill bin). Or whatever you have on hand, or would like to work with. :) Note: I have cats. If my partner is highly allergic, I'll discuss this with her/him to figure out what we can do.

nanthom 09/30/2011 #

I'd like either black or white. I wear a lot of scarves to work and would love either color.

FabricsandFlowers 09/30/2011 #

I'm not allergic to any natural fibers (just cats -- run it through the dryer good before you send it, if you have indoor cats). I love yellows or you could make it in dark green for my hubby....

=) Gayle

Okay, now for me: I've got no allergies. I have a new black cashmere coat for winter, so anything will go. I'm a fan of bright saturated colors but feel free to surprise me, I would live that!

leahsimone 10/ 2/2011 #

I meant "love" that...

3stairs 10/ 2/2011 #

No allergies - I love cotton yarn. Sage/Olive/Rustic greens are my favorite colors.

widelo123 10/ 2/2011 #

Love any color, but please no wool yarn. It is too itchy for me. One of those little neck scarfs would be great.

saturner 10/ 2/2011 #

***I love cotton yarn!!!!please DON'T SEND ME ACRYLIC YARN -->makes me etch. **** I love scarfs colorful, NOT BRIGHT COLORS, Please! I love any color because I use a lot of black clothes for my work, so any color will match with my clothes. I LOVE FUZZY SCARFS!!! Here in Anchorage I don't have to many option to buy different years, so I appreciate if I get some extra ;) or I can swap something you want for yarn ;)

ccirwin1971 10/ 3/2011 #

I love to wear scarves. I wear alot of blues/denims/pinks. I don't do well with fuzzy - they make me itch. Wool is fine. I do like them long so that I can wrap them around. That would be great.
