Description:

If you're like me, you want to try a new craft and would like someone else's opinion on how you did on it, but you are afraid to try a new craft and join a swap made especially for that type of craft. Well, here's a swap just for you!

You'll only have one partner and you will have plenty of time to complete the craft. That's why the sign up date & send-by date are so far apart. I want everyone to have ample time to put as much effort as they can into this swap.

What will you send to your partner? A craft and a note.

What crafty thing will you send? That's up to you, the sender! The only requirements for what craft to send are:

  • It must be handmade by you.
  • It must be a new-to-you craft.

For example, I have been interested in learning to crochet for some time now. But I have been afraid to join a swap for crocheted items for fear that my partner would be disappointed in my work. So, for this swap, I will learn to crochet and I'll crochet something for my partner & send it to them!

As for the note - you will write a note telling your partner what the item is (some people will see a Dotee doll and not know what it's called), how long it took you to make it, why you chose to learn this particular craft, if you enjoyed learning this craft, and if you think you will continue improving yourself in this craft.

You will have 3 weeks from the sign up date till the send-by date. This will give you ample time to work on your crafty item. As soon as you sign up, you can seek information on your chosen craft... Google it, YouTube it, go to the library, whatever. Then start on your item, it's sender's choice so no worries about reading profiles of your partner.

If you want to wait, to see your partner's likes, that is fine; but not required. If you are making an ATC and want it profile-based, you could make one of their favorite character... if you're crocheting, you could use their favorite colors... if you're trying out photography, you could photograph something you think they'll like. But like I said, this is not required! It's not a profile-based swap.

Your partner will rate a 5 if they receive your item post-marked on/before the send-by date and they receive a handmade item & a note. They will NOT rate down if your item isn't the best they've ever seen.

This does NOT mean you should slap a sticker on a card and call it an ATC. It must appear that you at least gave it some thought and you put your best effort into it.

Any questions, please ask prior to signing up.

All the usual stuff:

  • Ratings of 4.9 and higher only.
  • No 1's or 3's in the past 2 months.
  • If you have not logged onto Swap-Bot within a week of sign-up date, I will remove you before assigning partners.
  • At least 5 completed Type 3 swaps.
  • USA only to keep postage down, feel free to create an international version if you'd like.

I hope someone joins, because I made my first item using crochet today! I think it turned out pretty good for my first time trying crochet!

I really want to try tatting but I'm not sure if I'll have the time to make something worth sharing. So...if you need me to sign up I will...I love this idea but I have a few more projects to finish first so I'm still just watching.

If you wanted to do a private swap, I'm totally open to it! I can always practice my crocheting on you. LOL That way we could leave the turn-around time open longer.
